I hope Rafa does fantastic at Inter, and believe he will do

These images do nothing to help me through the bad dream I'm still having about our club. Damn the Americans and their English cohorts. They hire a fucking chelsea supporter and within weeks we lose our manager who stopped maureen and chelsea dominating Europe for three years. We won it. They didn't. Logic? Sense? Sad.

Wish you here with us today Rafa, you fought for this, and you were with us, opened our eyes about the cancers, you wanted this to happen more than anyone.

Oneday I wish you'll come back to manage us when it is just football team and not a company having its assets stripped.

Thank you Rafa, you'll never be forgotten  :'(

Thank you Rafa,

Rafa, what are your thoughts of Hicks and Gillet?

One word Rafa, respect. Respect for all the battles you have fought for us. With your extraordinary deed of bravery, you helped us declare war on H&G. Sacrificing your job along the way but providing leadership and an example for us to follow in your footsteps to oust H&G. I know deep inside you, you are relieved. Relieved that the state of Liverpool football club can again be stable and sound. We know your heart is with us and will be celebrating this monumental victory with us.

Don't think I'll ever revere a football manager quite as I do Rafa. Yeah, I have tons of respect for folks like Evans, Houllier, Kenny, Rodgers, and Klopp but it's always Rafa whom I think of first as my Liverpool manager.

He joined a club that was floundering and showed it what could be possible again.

Yeah, it was the same for me. Rafa was a breath of fresh air at that time and my god he didn't disappoint. That video a few posts up by ElAlonso always makes me feel a bit emotion. I love the shot of that one sign that says "Don't walk through the storm, we'll carry you"... What could have been had the club not been sold to those two twats and had it been properly run...
I just love Rafa, because he really is Red. And that's something that doesn't happen a lot in football.

That video from ELAlonso chocked me a little as I was having my breakfast. "Rafa.. Dont walk through the storm.. We'll carry you..." says a lot about him (as a manager) and us (as supporters).

That is why I feel proud to have been associated with a club as ours where we revere Managers as our own father and his troubles are seen as ours. Right from Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Kenny, Rafa and now Klopp. And to a comparatively lesser degree, Houlier and Rodgers. For someone to command earn such a respect from the vast fan base is really heart warming. Its been 9 years since he left and we still have only the nice things to say about this man.

15 years to this day. Rafa. You'll never walk alone.

Rafa Benitez will always be a part of the pantheon of Liverpool greats, and I do not think there is a single manager in world football other than Klopp who could have done the job AND embodied what it meant to be Liverpool manager as well as him.

That line just takes YNWA and puts it on the next level. You're not just not alone in the storm, people carry you through it. It's just a beautiful image. Sadly, not everyone at that time thought so. The other thing that gets me in the video every time is the picture of the G&H with the line "cause it's all in the hands of a bitter bitter man..."

He's a massive massive reason why the underhanded workings of H&G were brought to light.

I've never seen a manager quite stand up to owners who were ruining a club the way he did, and he probably knew it would cost him personally.

Liverpool buy into excellence

Rafael Benitez, who has been named the new manager of Liverpool, arrives at Anfield with an enviable record of success in one of the toughest arenas in world football.

There was a two-minute interlude where Liverpool’s three-man attack squared up against United’s three-man defence and basically stalked them back into their own penalty area, like battle-hardened mountain wolves closing in on a flock of geriatric sheep.  Barney Ronay at Anfield @barneyronay Sun 19 Jan 2020 20.36 GMT

Proper loved him, there was something about that 2004/5 season that stirs emotions,  i followed them all over the place home and abroad, i remember early  doors in the league you could see some signs of his defensive synchronicity and space management, really improved players tactically, he had Stevie G out for a period. Owen walked, Cisse broken leg in early October.    Anyway fast forward to February /March  we played Leverkusen away in the CL , i remember being sat in a McNasty's in Cologne the morning after the game, this scouser recognises me from going the match and he said to me "This Benitez has got Europe boxed off"   Whilst enjoying the ride never thought we would get  to the final , never mind win it.   There was an unshakable force amongst the crowd towards the team, yes the previous year under GH was woeful but  there was a real sense of something special brewing between the manager, players and the fans.    He really did light the touchpaper to a dissappointed fan base, hope pride and that defiance we are famous for was restored. A sleeping giant was woken.  What a legend this man was.   Cant tell you how many  arguments  i had with people when defending him against  the usual media narrative.     Purslow should never be allowed in anfield again for his role in the shabby way he was hounded out. Genuinely wish him every success in whatever team he goes on to manage.
