Barcelona 2001
« on: February 12, 2007, 11:14:21 am »
With just over a week to go until Barcelona away there seems no better opportunity to reminisce about our previous visits to the Nou Camp.

We've just published one such (hilarious) story on the RTK site.

Excellent read - I don't think my nerves could have stood up to the stresses of that trip and the match too.

Fortunately, my trip to Barca was much less stressful!!

Very funny and a great read.

I think that trip was the one when we all had the sombreros on and it was freezing. 4 of us sat in the posh bit of the away section with the big hats and unable to stand up.

Then a night at one of the local porn bars to watch "mini-me" (a 3 ft dwarf) shag about 10 women.

Yes, another cultural outing which I'm looking forward to repeating next week.

Best trips and funniest ones always the most chaotic!

Up the Eiffel Tower having a bevy and lost track of time after Auxerre, ended up missing the flight home from Paris Bouvelle (spelling) and kipping 10 to a room fit for 2 and getting the Eurostar home the next day. This was the lads I was with, I got off just before and made it to the airport! 2 of us on the flight, 10 empty seats  :D

The same 10 also locked themselves out of their hotel in Auxerre and ended up sleeping in a bus stop using cardboard boxes as windbreakers! 10 stinking scousers in an Auxerre bus stop with no ale and no food. Harry Enfield would have had a field day that night.

What a shithole that Auxerre was.

A Barcelona legend!
He was hysterical. I remember him standing on stools to sh+g these tall birds as he couldn't reach, it was like Ken Dodd x-rated.

By that time of night you're just nackered and pissed anyway so there's not a great deal else to be done. Although I do recall bumping into some trouble with the locals who had robbed some reds' passport and having to persuade them (aggressively) to hand it back as they demanded cash.

That was the trip when we sat down and wrote the "Stevie G song" which was getting sung in afew of the bars. Written on the Ramblas with my brother. "You're just too good to be true" etc although apparently all and sundry have since claimed authenticity !

Happy days indeed.

Anyone remember the live chicken with the little red scarf running around the square just of the Ramblas. The Gardie Civil cops didn't know wether to laugh or arrest the chicken for public disorder.

Hopefully with the help of our Spanish contingent we can overcome Barca again too.  As long as they keep focussed given their new acting careers.
Did anyone else see Xabi and Luis in the woods on Primeval the other night?
