It's Blackburn Rovers from 1995 all over again. Two highly consistent goal scorers (substitute Vardy and Mahrez for Sutton and Shearer), a solid midfielder (substitute Kante for Tim Sherwood), a strong defender (Morgan for Colin Hendry) and a decent stopper (Schmeichel for Tim Flowers). A modest team punching considerably above their weight, run by an experienced manager with a point to prove. Who says history doesn't repeat itself?
The big problems they will face now though is that the lower teams, who they have been beating fairly routinely, will be fighting for survival and won't be as easy to roll over. Add in the FA Cup, the inevitable injuries that always come around, plus the fact they have now been effectively sussed out, and I cannot see them finishing any higher than 6th. They only need to lose Vardy or Mahrez and the whole thing falls apart - 28 of their 37 goals have been scored by this pair. You can't help but smile at the Tinkerman and what he's managed to do in less than a year, it's the stuff of fairytales. The league, as mad as it is this year, will always end up correcting itself though.
Still, it's nice to see that stuff like this can happen once in a while. Much better than seeing either of the Mancs or fucking Chelsea on top.
