Most bookies have England as 4th favourites with only Holland, Germany and Spain ahead of us in the betting.

The reason for that is the quality of players we have.

I can gaurentee that apart from France and Holland, all of the other 'teams' will be just that. England are a collection of over-rated egos who play just like that.

Would that be English bookies? What about ones in other countries?

No they are not only English bookies. These bookies can be used anywhere in the world, they're multinational.

Despite us being unable to play any worst if we tried, only Germany, Spain and Holland went further than us at the last world cup.

Exactly and still only 3 European teams done better than us.

Despite being inferior to Spain and Germany we'll have as good a chance as anyone else in the tournament as it's a shocking standard.

If a manager could be found to get the best out of the players, the final would not be out the question, although it's a big "if". Capello is not that man, shite!!

Yes they are.

You think most teams in the world are better than England?

If you believe this then you seriously need help.

At the moment I think we are ranked 8th in the world.

That means that 7 countries are better than us.

That also means that around 200 countries are worse than us.

Do you now understand mate?

The players will buckle under the pressure. Spain and Germany are miles ahead of England, Portugal are around the same level but step up their game usually (2010 aside) and will finish above England. England even struggled against Montenegro.

England don't have as good a chance as anyone else.

England. are. crap (relatively speaking)
I'm not sure why*, but its plain to see that we are. What we need to do is get a grip on reality, lower our expectations and thus not get too distraught when were knocked out of competitions at a  perfectly respectable stage for the team.

The qualifiers mean fuck all in terms of how you're gonna do in the tournament. If you get through, you get through. England qualified for the World Cup last year in "spectacular fashion" and they ballsed it up big time. I expect the same next summer.

Based on what though?

Fans? Sure. You take a large following.

Quality of the league? Defo.

Players? Maybe, probably not. Not any more than half a dozen others.

Success? Don't kid yourselves.

England's record across all international competitions is arguably inferior to the Czech's record. Sure, they haven't actually won a World Cup like England (don't remember them hosting one either). The Czech's have played in two finals though, they've won the Euros, finished runners up, got to the Semi's however many times.

England have a mediocre record at international football, masked slightly by a victory on home soil.

I think Spain and Germany are a class above the rest now

followed by Holland and Italy.

and then you have teams like Portugal, France, England and Denmark at the same level.

Nothing is impossible, just requires a good draw, to get England to semis, and from semis on anything is possible.

One question though, considering Poland and Ukraine are top seeds, would England be in 2nd seed or 3rd ?

Everyone's touting 'arry for the job, should Capello go, but surely it would be Venables Mark 2 and the FA wouldn't go for it. Too many skeletons in brown paper bags...

I honestly think that, if they go for an English manager, Hodgson's name would be in the frame..

Overhyping the other teams as usual.

Most teams in the world are not better than England.

Most teams in Europe are not better than England.

Most teams that will be at Euro 2012 are not better than England.

interesting that you keep mentioning teams. england have some great individual players but when it comes to the crunch they don't pull it together as a team. england arguably have better players than germany but got destroyed last summer and if the two sides were to meet again at euro 2012 i'd put my house on the germans knocking them out.

Germany and Italy are Europe's biggest boys considering their history of winning titles at WC and European Championships. They are levels above the rest historically.

England have a WC, same with France, and coupled with Netherland's one European Cup they make up the 2nd tier which makes them part of the big boys.

really? so based on winning it in 66 we are one of the big boys? how about being shite for most of the time since then?

i think were crap myself, and being one of the 'big boys' is meaningless if we get twatted by every half decent team we play every time we reach the finals.

Joking aside, it's all about the media and kissing their arses, picking the best players as oppose to picking the best team.

Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson were the only two managers in my life time that had the balls to do that and stick it right up to the media..

England are always touted as being up there, but it never translates in a tournament. I think some of it is down to the fact that we play more games than teams in other countries. But this time around, I agree, we've got no chance. Pretty much the same squad as the World Cup, but older.

Think you could say the same for most countries.

Denmark of 92, Greece of 04, France have been even worse than England after winning Euro 2000 (bar 2006 finals) and they have very little to show pre-1998.

Netherlands, I can't believe they've won 1 major trophy overall with all the talent theey've produced. I'd rate them among the top tier boys had they not been chokers.

The thing is, had England beaten Portugal in 2004 and 06 in penalties, things could have beeen very different. It's a mentality thing. Stevie and Lampard don't miss a single penalty in club season, yet BOTH of the miss in WC QFs.

But then, if you make a poll on RAWK which NT do you rate more highly now, England, France or Portugal...you'll probably see England coming out last, when it really isn't the case considering France needed an outside of the box peno to qualify, and Portugal are heading to play offs.

England have as much chance of winning the thing as Portugal or France. Which is very little, but still possible. Odds for Greece pre Euro2004 was 1/2000.
