Golf Betting Thread
« on: March 9, 2011, 05:14:54 pm »
Yes there is a non football thread but it is majorly Horse racing and it's hard to keep up with the golf in there.

This week....

WGC Cadillac at the Doral

Some incredible 3 balls going out tomorrow.

Woods, Mcdowell and Mickelson.
Kaymer, Westwood and Donald.
Watney, Singh and Scott.
Casey, Mcilroy and Stricker.
Quiros, Mahan and Jimenez.

The list goes on!  Golf as it should be.

I'm gonna stick to my guns with 4 players this week and have an each way punt on each of them.
I have however taken Poulter out, a bit inconsistent right now.

Bubba Watson @ 40/1
Robert Karlsson @ 80/1 (great odds for the bigman)
Martin Laird @ 100/1
Johnny Vegas @ 125/1

4 fold - 3balls - Watney, Ogilvy, Kuchar and Clark

Anyone taking a punt this week?

MMMMH - A golf betting thread- nice one.

Supposedly the easiest greens around on this WGC course but quite tricky off the tee by all accounts.

My Main bet this week is Luke Donald at 28-1

Side bets on an In form Thomas Bjorn and accurate guys off the tee Mark Wilson and Bo Van Pelt - All 3 of these over 100-1 depending which bookie and more like 200-300 on the exchanges.

Johnny has got a shite record on the greens but is top 7 in driving and hitting greens.  With the greens being one of the easiest on the tour if he can play good to the greens hopefully this will improve.

Worth a punt and i'll keep going on this guy like I used to with Camillo Villegas.

Gone for McDowell @17.5 as my main bet, and smaller stakes on Bill Haas @40 and Justin Rose @70. All three hit a lot of greens and should get lots of birdie chances on these easy greens. Haas and McDowell have already had 3 top 10s this year as well.

On G-Mac at 20's.

Will decide tomorrow morning whether or not to pick a couple of outsiders.

Would love to have a wedge on Tiger each way at 12's.

Did Tiger in the end. Woods and G-Mac then, win singles. Let's go.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

200-1 on Hamilton. I reckon he has a win in him let alone a place.

I'm a big Watney fan but his price is too short for someone who isn't a proven/consistent winner. Like McIlroy, they both only have 2 wins each.

Have backed Karlsson at 120, Byrd at 230, Hoffman at 330. Probably won't be able to resist a bet on Watney either at some stage during the tournament.

Worst putting display I've ever seen from Tiger so far this week, and I mean that.

Not even scaring the hole with a 6 footer at 17. Foley has alot to answer for.

Obviously loads in contention but Kaymer is the man to beat.

If ever a player was meant to win in a week I haven't backed him it's Nick Watney.

He doesn't handle pressure well enough though. A good player to back to lay on the right course that suits him.

Troy Matteson 3 shots clear after day 3 in the Puerto Rico open.  Just laid him at 1.58 to guarantee myself 100 quid should he not win it.

D. Johnson now the man to catch in the WGC. Donald just 2 back though.

Matteson and Donald wins = Me blagging off work and pissing off to Cheltenham to waste it all!!

Hunter fucked up on the last 2 yesterday, idiot.  3 back.

Laird 4 back.

Dustin is erratic, he'll start well as everyone will on the par 5 but hopefully he'll fuck it up (along with 6 others).ancy

Molinari is a tremendous Sunday bottler though. Up there with the best the first 3 days and then you get him to a Sunday and he falls to pieces.

He was okay in the HSBC.  I certainly wouldn't bet big on him as he is 3 behind after all, just his odds of 25 looked decent for the position he is in.

I'm sticking with what I have though.

Watney is a bit of a bottler and DJ.  Donald is the one, just his odds are too short to have a punt now.

GO HUNTER AND LERDDDDD

Sicilian Open and Transitions Championship this week.

Edfors and Green in Europe.

Watney and Levin to place in USA.

Gallagher is the fav in this based on his 4th in the Volvo. Edfors was 6th in that and is decently priced around 50/1.
No recent form on Green but he tends to do well in these lower class events.

Edfors and Levin e/w first round leaders double.

Hard luck on the playoff lost last week Pete.

Cheers mate.  Not the first time I've had a golfer blow his lead. At least I cashed.

Next time i'm in that situation with a lesser name player I'm laying off half my potential winnings.  The pressure fucks them up far too often.

Anyhow 81a...You having a crack at the Cheltenham tipster comp?

Not many players seem to be able to hold a lead going into the last day. It's what makes Sunday's interesting.

I'll have a crack at the Cheltenham comp.

Webb Simpson going well in 3rd at the CUT stage.

Just had a nibble on Matteo Mannessero at 40-1 and Gary Woodland 24-1 .

Great price on Mannessero who is only 3 shots off lead at the halfway stage.

Inspired picking by Buck Pete last week.  1st and 2nd in the PGA last weekend.

Webb Simpson going well in 3rd at the CUT stage.

Just had a nibble on Matteo Mannessero at 40-1 and Gary Woodland 24-1 .

Weak field in Europe again. Alvaro Quiros and Jimenez with Darren Clarke e/w.

PGA Tour - Wide Open at Bay Hill. Chris Couch e/w tied 4th here last year. 3 top 10's in 5 events this year.

Just looking at the European now. Initial thought is Soren Kjeldsen at 40/1 looks a cracking bet. 6th last year, winner the year before, so excellent course form - in half decent nick this year. Having a look at the course I reckon you need an accurate driver. David Horsey was prominent in those stats last year and he's always capable of piecing rounds together. Might take the 90/1 on offer there as well.

Can see myself getting involved Gregory Havret as well. 66/1 on offer and he's pretty accurate off the tee, get the ball in position and his excellent putting statistics should see him in the mix.

Probably be those three for me I reckon.

AP tournament in the PGA.

Will stick with Johnny Vegas each way.  He has masses of ability, just needs to find that consistency.

Bill Haas, Bubba Watson and Martin Laird also.  (seems to be a trend with my bubba, vegas and laird bets now!)
