Been doing a lot of research on these.  Loved watching them on the tele this year.

Eddie Howe = Played for them since a youth, sold to Portsmouth against his will as wanted to stay.  Fans bought him back to the club, as club couldn't afford transfer fee.  Ex England U21.  Playing career ruined by injury.  Left club with Assistant to manage Burnley.  Bought many of the players there which eventually gained promotion with Dyche. Went to Burnley as he thought he would be accused of lacking ambition.  Mum died.  Wanted to go home and opportunity arose with approx. 1.5 million compo to Burnley.

Maxim Demim = Russian multi millionaire.  Lives in Switzerland.  Introduced to club through former chairman, a local builder, who built him a house on the massively expensive 'Sandbanks'.  Eventually increased 50% share to 100%.  Reportedly has invested 25 million to get to the Premier League.  Did a similar thing with Fortuna Dusseldorf in Bundesliga.  The Stadium has one temporary stand at the end, otherwise has been heavily invested in training pitches and overall facilities upgraded.  Howe demands latest technology for training methods etc.  Demim could possibly have links to further wealthy Russians and more money to invest in project.

Goldsands Stadium = Still known as the traditional Dean Court.  Club rent ground as sold it to a property development business 'Structadene' when skint years ago.  Rent fairly modest and seem happy to continue as tenants.  Bids have been made to buy back the stadium but price required considered unreasonable and will not pay over the odds.  Club still own the land which has a temporary stand and the training pitches behind it.  Apparently negotiations ongoing about what to do with ground or move completely.

Capacity = 12000.  Could possibly make it to 18000 with development.  However, Howe does not want away fans behind goal as believes this gives away sides advantage.  If 18000 capacity would have to allow 1800 away fans and is not possible to accommodate those fans on sides.  14000 capacity would allow club to accommodate 1400 away fans on side, as present.....then maybe build alternative stadium if they stay up.

Signings = Most of current squad was signed in League One.  Only big signings are Tokelo Rantie for 2 mill from Malmo and Callum Wilson for 3 mill from Coventry.  Sold leading scorer Grabban to Norwich last summer for 3 million.  Therefore have achieved without major transfer deals.

Don't think they will get him, but they will definitely go for Charlie Austin. Howe loves him, has money, Austin has family down here and Howe always keeps tabs on him.

They've been great to watch coming up, and they're a great club. But this (short of a lot of clever investment) is going to be a brutal season for them. Probably worse than Burnley have fared this campaign. I look at that squad and without a lot of money being spent, it lacks the quality to stay in the division.

Therefore have achieved without major transfer deals.

They did make a concerted effort to sign Demarai Gray for £5.5m in January though (but even that isn't that big by Championship standards these days). The wage bill is also fairly modest by Championship standards. The first time he got them promoted they were bankrupt and under a transfer embargo, he did it with the same players that had just avoided relegation the season before. The Russian connection isn't a secret but this definitely isn't bought success.

Not similar culturally but same sort of size and seaside town with former glory basically. Also south coast as opposed to NW.

How dare they have s small ground of only 12,000, tell ya what ask if they can play both games at Anfield as you couldn't possibly slum it in such a small pitiful ground .

Yes mate slightly naive, think of it as a throwback to the old days it'll be great 👍

The season is now upon us.

Just a quick update on the incomings for them.

Artur Boruc signed on a free from Southampton - Was their 1st choice keeper last season once he arrived on loan.
Adam Federici signed on a free from Reading.
Tyrone Mings signed for £8 million from Ipswich.
Josh King signed for £3 million from Blackburn.
Lee Tomlin signed for £3 million from Middlesbrough.
Maxi Gradel signed for £6 million from St Etienne.
Sylvain Distin signed on a free from Everton.
Fillipo Costa signed on season loan from Chievo.
Christian Atsu signed on season loan from Chelsea.

Rumours are that they still chase another striker with Glenn Murray of Palace at £3.5 million the target.

Just shows how football has changed with a club making its debut in the premier league and a stadium capacity of 12000 splashes about £25 million on new signings.

Personally, I think they will stay up and I'm going to have a good bet that they do too.

Cheers for that, hadn't heard of half of that business.  Looks very shrewd. Solid mix of Prem experience and strenghtening in key areas.

Gradel played for Bournemouth  on loan back in 07/08. 17 goals in 23 starts for St Etienne last season but he is injury prone.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

I think they'll ship a lot of goals though. Distin is ancient but I think Mings will impress and move on to a bigger club next season.

They'll get a few hammerings because of the way they play but receive a lot of plaudits at the same time. I don't see them coming to Anfield second game of the season and sitting back. It's not in their nature. They should beat enough of the dross to stay up though.

I still think they'll stay up. Mum and dad went to the game Saturday and said it was a complete rollercoaster of emotions.

Think they'll spend a bit of money in January, get a decent, pacey striker, and do just about enough to stay up.

I wonder if the thing they need most is a decent keeper. Boruc and Federici are both rather erratic, maybe a more reliable keeper would help get clean-sheets as they have the attacking play to get goals but they keep conceding sloppy efforts.

Starting to quite like them already and genuinely hope they stay up. You look at all the other dross right below - Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland. All play turgid football, whereas Bournemouth just go for it every game. Hopefully they can get some players in during the window to minimize the impact all those injuries have on the squad.

As for Bournemouth, an incredible week in the club's history; fingers crossed they can stay up but they have to sort out that defence!

The Russian owner has invested 25 million of his own cash to get them where they are now.  It would appear he now has that back as he has sold 25% share of the club to an American organisation.

I think their strategy is to try and stay up using TV money from this year.  If they manage that, then reap the rewards of the TV money from next season and invest in a new state of the art stadium.  Then the infrastructure is complete:

Premier League
Top manager, home grown, who says he never wants to leave
First class stadium and in a location where top players would want to live
Billionaire investment from Russians and Americans

I had a good wedge on them staying up as I have watched this story unfold over a few seasons now.  They want it so bad and play football far more pretty than most sides in the Premier League.
