The local lads have definitely had a word there  ;D Well in young Reds.

Send them round the running track before the kick off. Milne and Byrne would agree

I was in the Boys Pen for that one  :) :) :)

Everything about that match was to celebrate Man city. Sticking in what they call a training pitch most would class as a solid League 2 stadium.

BT cameras set up like a top premier League game

Pep in the stands watching on.

Brass band in the crowd

And then the reds come along and spoil it for them

Always a great moment for them. My 1st ever match at Anfield was the 95/96 final with Carra and Owen in the team

Ridiculous that the final wasn't played on a neutral ground really. It was fine doing home and away when it was played over 2 legs but in a one-off game it seems grossly unfair, much like everything else to do with that club.

Glad we spoiled their little party tonight anyway.

Congrats to the kids.  Wasn't able to watch as closely in the 2nd half as the first but we definitely improved and then got some luck.

Fingers crossed a good batch of these lads make it with us. I’d love to see us become the English Ajax in terms of youth development.

Things are looking up for us in terms of youth though aren’t they, particularly after so many stale years since Gerrard came along.

He's been embarrassing so glad we did it. I think BT will be in mourning for a while.
I didn't see it so can't comment on the commentary, but I was just looking at a couple of twitter videos posted here by oojason and in the comments there are Abu Dhabi fans talking about how biased the commentary was towards Liverpool.  :o

Anyway, well done young Reds.  :champ

You can't help but smile all the way through to your very core watching the joy they celebrated that last penalty with.

I'm delighted for everyone involved. It'll help external and  internal perceptions of the academy and give a real boost to the careers of those who don't make the grade with us.

He was impressive. Not much cover in front of him but managed to cover two players at once sometimes. Full of running even in extra time, City kept lining up their fastest players against him all game as well.

Wonder if we'll see him in the League Cup next season, just as we saw Trent to begin with at that age.

Watch it again. As soon as the pen goes in: "Liverpool have won the Youth Cup..." he says it a few times. It's only at the end that he says City have been beaten by Liverpool.

Went along to the game and the lads did really well - especially second half, ET & pens, 'cos City bossed the first half and were outstanding at times. Yes, Larouci played well but I thought our best player was Leighton Clarkson before he had to go off - and what about Bobby Duncan, hardly a sniff all night and cracks in a belter ! Mention should also go to our keeper Jaros, he looks a real prospect. Hopefully, some of these lads will really show in a year or two.

Think he’s a great prospect, a really wonderful athlete with speed, strength and stamina but he can be a bit hit and miss.  Not too many pages back someone in this forum who attended a match in the Dallas Cup picked out our No3 (Larouci) as a player who gave the ball away time and time again.  Only to be expected at that age but I think he’s maybe a little way off in maturity stakes to be playing up at that level.  More likely Adam Lewis might get a chance,if he’s not out on loan.  Or a new No 2 LB to Robertson, because Robbo is going to be playing most games.

That’s a pretty good summation and I entirely agree about Clarkson.

He has few of the physical advantages of some others on the park. Yet he has something more valuable - game intelligence and tremendous ability on the ball. Some of his decision making is very mature, and his little chipped and floated passes are a delight. He has a real chance.

I think he'll struggle to make it at a top team. I really like him as a player, but the physical disadvantages he has at youth football will be amplified at senior level. And there are very few senior sides who play someone of his stature and style at the base of midfield in England. Hard to imagine a lower league side putting faith in him to have a run to try and adapt to it either if hes loaned out. Think he should looking at somewhere like Holland to try and make a breakthrough.

A big caveat in that I don’t know this kid but I really hate this kind of thinking. If he’s good enough he’ll get a chance regardless of his size. Masch was never a big guy but did ok in midfield. There’s a lot of examples in world football that disprove that you need to be big physically to succeed. I mean, look at the size of Naby Keita. He seems to do ok too.
