The truly impressive thing about this fact is that it applies to many other celebrities too.

Only three musicians have ever used every available note of the scale in their entire musical output.  Paul Simon, Mike Oldfield and Go West.  Paul Simon was the first, discovering that once he had used up all the notes, the pitches on his instruments were reversed.  You can hear it happen on the double-bass line towards the end of "You can call me Al".

A jiffy is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second. Thus the saying, I will be there in a jiffy.

The tip of a bullwhip moves so fast that it breaks the sound barrier. The crack of the whip is actually a tiny sonic boom.

Adolf Hitler was Time's Man of the Year for 1938.

You can't kill yourself by holding your breath.

It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

If you fire one bullet and drop the other from the exact same height as you fire the gun then both bullets will hit the ground at the same time.

If you are firing at your feet then you should not be in comand of a firearm. :)

1492. We were taught to memorize this year with pride and joy as the year people began living full and imaginative lives on the continent of North America. Actually, people had been living full and imaginative lives on the continent  for hundreds of years before that. It was simply the year sea pirates began to rob, cheat , and kill them.

To be fair, after the age of 12 their organs are practically useless anyway. It's all the haggis and heroin.

The phrase 'daylight robbery' comes from the introduction of window tax in the 17th century in parts of London. Homes with large windows, usually upper-class families, got charged more because they received more daylight. Those who couldn't afford to pay such taxes sought to put metal bars on their windows - which you still see very often, so they wouldn't be charged as much. So it's quite literal in its meaning.

The phrase "sleep tight" comes from beds in olden days which were wound ropes on a frame which could be tightened using an ingenious screw device, to achieve a firmer position.

Have we just read the same book?
