Just get a proper US Navy one. Made by either Schott or Sterlingwear. Jump The Gun sell the Sterlingwear one if you can't find anywhere else.

Something for you dapper chaps to consider.

Do you have an item of clothing that you have now thrown/given away that you think, I should have kept that?

I used to have a lovely orange Duffer of St George (not the Debenhams rubbish) puffa jacket.  Got rid because everyone said I looked like a pumpkin, wish I'd kept that one.

not as much as you might expect.  i think as i've got older i've realised there are certain things that are just too showy and also some of the things i've got rid of were probably more knackered than i care to remember but i am now thinking of a charcoal and heather grey cord puffer jacket from stüssy that would be particularly handy today.

mine is from the real mccoy but bought a few years ago when the exchange rate was better for around £350.

they are now £675 at superdenim.  three cheers for brexit.  these are technically perfect though.

thank you chaps just saw these messages.  dinner at p.franco on friday night with lovely wife and their flight path of wine; pasta vongole with crab on saturday with a lovely sancerre; a game pie with a rioja on the sunday.  there was also some brandy and a load of chocolate ;D

btw if you want to read about p.franco it just got eater's london restaurant of the year award yesterday https://london.eater.com/2017/12/5/16734304/best-london-restaurant-chef-design-delivery-eater-awards-2017

it's a natural wine shop that does 3-6 month stints with up and coming chefs.  they just have two ceramic hobs to cook on for 15 covers and then charge corkage on the wine.  it's so good.  definitely my favourite place to eat for past couple of years.

That all sounds brilliant to be fair. A weekend of wine and dining for a birthday is far and away a good thing.

When ever I am in London (not sure when that will be) I'll be sire to look up p.franco. It sounds like my kind of place.
I watched a YouTube video and decided that Paul Konchesky looked like a player.

nice interview with ex stone island; ex sabotage and ten-c designer paul harvey with the son of massimo osti on the revitalised cp company.

http://www.port-magazine.com/fashion/in-good-company-paul-harvey-lorenzo-osti/

i was definitely more stone island in my day but remember dropping £120 on a CP shirt back in 1992.

i thought i looked the business but it was man made fibre and when in a club it was literally slicked with sweat.

to put that in perspective £120 was the equivalent of two weeks rent in brighton at the time.

haven't posted for a while due to hating january and having flu through most of february.

the new summer selection from mccoy is giving me the horn though.

#saprising

this season's boondocker has lost the box toe.

the a-1 jacket in deerskin is the last word is soft leather luxe - i'm wearing a deerskin body warmer right now and it's softer than a cashmere's foreskin.

i haven't worn white jeans since primal scream released 'don't fight it, feel it' but they feel super fresh for summer 18.

Great article about Wes Anderson's styling of his characters.

https://www.mrporter.com/daily/what-mr-wes-anderson-has-taught-us-about-style/3158?cm_mmc=Facebook-SM-_-The%20Daily-_-TheJournal-_-Organic-_-20180312

Wes Anderson's characters look like they all wear Gucci. It's an unbelievably cool look that oozes class.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

And Margot's mink coat is gorgeous. I love Margot from that film. But then again who doesn't?! Speaking of luggage, the custom Louis Vuitton suitcase set in The Darjeeling limited is fantastic.

an excellent article on cool hunting for the new yorker:

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1997/03/17/the-coolhunt

"Baysie has a theory that Liverpool is cool right now because it’s the birthplace of the whole “lad” look, which involves soccer blokes in the pubs going superdressy and wearing Dolce & Gabbana and Polo Sport and Reebok Classics on their feet. But when I asked DeeDee about that, she just rolled her eyes: “Sometimes Baysie goes off on these tangents. Man, I love that woman!”"

Fascinating. But it's from 1997. Turns out Dee Dee Gordon is now running her own company! She sounds like a total hottie from that New Yorker article.

they're a great shoe. definitely due a revival as easy to riff on and a bit more robust than the standard (shonky) converse.

It's all about the ugly sneaker now. Personally, I'm skipping that particular trend and have been investing mine in classic terrace footwear. i.e. Adidas Gazelles. I'm a stickler for black and leather, so I went for one in black leather.

Like this one - Also don't want to spend a $1000 on something that looks deliberately shit but in a cool way.
