Found this video yesterday on Youtube.

Hunter S. Thompson, BBC Omnibus.

Thought of no better place to post it  on Rawk. :D

agata osti - daughter of the legendary massimo - has done a capsule collection for rag and bone in nyc.

the stand out piece is the reversible wool parka.

there's also a reversible liner.

exquisite.

i've also got a custom varsity jacket incoming from the US.

wife caught me putting the order together so had to get one too.

it's xmas blah blah blah...

yes, it does have hassinator embroidered on the breast and it was £164.

EDIT: haven't bought from these guys before but 70% five star reviews on amazon and 18% four star reviews too.

delivers in 5 weeks so shall report back.

last, but by no means least, a USMC surplus parka with detachable liner.  £39.

it's £750 for the cotton M-51 from mccoy and probably about another £400 for the liner.

this one has a nylon shell and is brand new.

medium costs £10 more than large which means they come in big ie designed to wear over a combat jacket and webbing.

maybe back pack too but impossible to resist at this price point.

remember: e-bay is the budget conscious fashionista's friend.

wife has come home and said that the parka's actually quite good i'm just being unreasonable in my expectations.

definitely not of mccoy luxe standard but will do her for her forest school or a festival and cheap enough to not give a fuck if we lose it.

aware that i'm being a greedy guts but wife wants a camo goretex jacket for her forest school so i've ordered the USMC extreme weather parka.

it's deadstock from the 90s so brand new and in my favourite woodland camo.

about £150 including p&p should get here before xmas.

actually more built in ye olde stylee of high quality leather.

they're italian and made by diemme and yes mine would be primarily for standing around outside on shoots.

i'm skint at the moment so have opted for some new laces to go in my old berghaus/brashers.

the CPO shirt. i have two. the mccoy one is really beautiful but mine has been gang raped by a load of fucking moths.

the buzz rickson version is holding up well and in regular winter rotation as that all wool vibe is lovely and warm.

you may have noticed that i have an ongoing obsession with technical and military jackets.

i've been obsessing about the canada army arctic parka's which pop up for a few hundred quid on ebay from time to time.

found a place in canada that does them used but in really good condition for $20-$30.

these are canadian dollars which means the most basic version is coming in at about a tenner ;D

coats are built to keep you warm at minus 40c so definitely good enough for match days.

Dear Hass

Why do you always dress like Hawkweye from M*A*S*H?

PS

I'd bang the pair of them, well wrong.

hawkeye never leaves my moodboard!

i think i had an epiphany and realised that all the coats i was wearing had a military origin and instead of buying an expensive take on the classics - stone island; cp company mainly at the time - i'd try and go to the source. the next phase was buying japanese remakes from buzz rickson and then - godhead - the real mccoy but their gear is ball crushingly expensive and my wife was going to divorce me if any more packages turned up from japan.

i still have a habit to feed so getting into technical military surplus seems a good place to end up particularly when you realise so much of it is deadstock ie brand new just been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for 30 years and that another 30 years from now some japanese kid will realise that they can do high end remakes and charge a bomb. why not get in on the ground floor?

other bits of nerd detail: goretex aren't going to work with smaller fashion brands anymore and have ended their relationship with visvim (top tier mental pricing) so people may struggle to replicate 90s military gear and though i suspect there will be some even sexier tech to come along this stuff is all about authenticity. i mean 40s and 50s deck jackets look amazing but they're quite heavy and not waterproof which doesn't seem to put anyone off dropping a bundle on them. they're also lovely, obvs.

re this canada arctic parka it has so much going on. cotton nylon mix to the exterior shell gives it a soft touch and the feel of a tough old army jacket with the bonus of water resistance. the hood is detachable and lined with wool so super warm if you want it up. also got a wire frame round the edge so you can close off drafts or focus vision straight ahead if stuck in the away end - still traumatised here after roma away in 2001 after accidentally celebrating owen's second. underneath is an insulated liner with a goretex membrane to export sweat - important in the arctic as if it freezes you will die - and that works as another wee jacket in itself. stone island still nod to this in their bigger jackets but this is the real deal and i LOVE a liner (m-43 my current favourite).  i can go on and probably will after breakfast as can't be arsed going for a run yet.

re the ladies i understand they're both very good sports. myfanwy (the really fit one) came to our baby shower and decided to strip off to her underwear (black from la perla) and do some sunbathing. this errr.... captured the attention of a few of the boys there but made my wife a little cross despite it being a very hot day.

back at the more lavish end of the budget spectrum i have quite the horn for french label fleur de bagnes.

jackets around the €550 mark but it's the big heavy cardi that i want the most will let you know when/if they go in the sale.

taking their inspiration from work wear with a ye olde prison vibe or tattooed enforcer maybe it's a like a french guy richie?

aware he's a massive c*nt to apologies for bringing him into the discussion as that little bit of gallic panache brings it all together.
