“Chelsea moaned about it. Mourinho still does. I laugh. Chelsea's complaints are ridiculous. If it wasn't a goal Petr Cech would have been red-carded for bringing down Milan Baros. What would Chelsea have made of that? Down to 10 men, facing a penalty. Liverpool could have won 4-0. Chelsea got off lightly. They should keep quiet.”

Steven Gerrard.

Get over it Jose!

Having said that, I'm not sure which comments annoyed me more, those post match ones or the ones after the game 2 years later when he whined about only one team trying to win in ET despite the fact we actually put the ball in the net at that time.

Having studied this goal over the last 5 years in great detail an taking so much pleasure every time i see it, it was one hundred per cent overthe line. no doubt about it, no technology needed. sorry to be a bore, but if you watch a slow mo reply, the angle from behind gallas, watch his standing foot. Its no more than a size 9 shoe away from the line. Now, watch the angle of his kicking leg when he connects with the ball. Now i dont know his leg measurements, but im pretty sure hs legs are more than 3 times the size of a size 9 shoe. His knee is probably level with the line, meaning his shin and boot are clearly over the line when he connects with the ball.

As Clive 'One night In Barcelona' Tyldesley said, THE FIRST GOAL OF THIS SEMI FINAL IS A LIVERPOOL GOAL. Fuck off Mourinho, Fuck off Mourinho

Wrong response.  I don't think it crossed the line, and we didn't deserve to win.  Just look at our league position compared to Chelsea that season and you will realise Chelsea were the superior team.  We rode our luck all the way through that champions league campaign and denied a great Chelsea team a spot in the final that the rightly deserved.

Are you high???  :moon :nirnir

EDIT: The goal can be discueed as such but CL is a cup competetition (over 2 legs I know) but saying that we denied a rightly deserved team the chance to get to the final is just bollox imo. Cup competitions call for fights end off!

In all seriousness though, I do have to laugh at how Chelsea say we scraped through while they were far better than us in the knockout stages that year? Is this the same Chelsea who failed to win a single one of their away legs that year?

That's not really great evidence.

First of all you can't really tell whether that's the ball or Gallas' leg.

Secondly, if that is the ball, then in that picture the ball isn't completely past the goalpost. So it can't be all the way over the line, and so wouldn't be a goal.

Over the line and far away, Mourinho, as one of the banners proclaimed.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I don't think it crossed the line - I think the atmosphere and the occasion got to whoever gave the decision.  To me this makes it even sweeter.

Shut up; it was clearly a yard inside the line; I saw it clearly ;)
