I would be pretty pissed off if a bigger club kept on buying our best players. As you say, not as if sterling has been given an easy ride of it at Anfield
No he doesn't, but Suarez would get a hero's welcome.

Sterling gets a rough ride as he has allowed his prick of an agent to disrespect the club to force a move he would have got anyway if the right offer had been made.

And then we'll get 4th as well and everyone in the whole world can do one.

Think there's a genuine chance to get this wrapped up ahead of the second leg, Soton seem to have a few problems at the minute in terms of injury, form of key players, unrest regarding puel and the whole fonte situation.

Don't see tonights match being that important in relation to Sunday to be honest be it tiredness or anything else. Obviously we don't want anyone getting injured but the flip side is little phil being back.

Unfortunately it has got to Lovren in the past. Maybe because his departure was a bit more acrimonious than the others. Didn't he threaten to go on strike to get his move?

That was Lallana, Lovren kicked off on social media.

I don't think anyone is obsessed about it, I'm not anyway, but in the absence of Mane and perhaps Coutinho we don't have any attacker that prefer playing wide over being central. I also feel a two with Origi and Sturridge suit both players better than starting by themselves, especially if we don't have the speed and creativity of Mane and Coutinho available.

Our two "wingers" tend not to play very wide so I'm not sure why people are so worried about this.  Our "wingers" play in the "halfspace" and allow the fullbacks to provide us width.

If they play their first team it's unlikely to be done tonight - their underlying numbers are still good, they've been unlucky with results

We could and should have beaten them 2/3-0 when we played them last time if we took our chances. No reason we can't do similar again. They're also leaking quite a few goals lately

Yep, in attack it often looks like we are playing with three, more conventional forwards. As you said, the two fullbacks provide the width and often look like wingers themselves.

True, but it still isn't the same role as the one in the centre. Firmino doesn't look nearly as good on the left as he does in the middle. The same is true of Origi and Sturridge, and especially the latter is a slight problem from a defensive point of view as Klopp expects the "wingers" in the front three to track back more than the central player. That is my impression anyway.

Oh we're definitely a decent amount better than them and should win. Just saying their decent - still possibly the 7th best team in the league.

No chance. They don't carry enough goal threat to be that at the moment.

Just a side thought to all of the lineup posts... I wonder if these will ever get over Lovren and the like leaving them. Its sad to hear them boo him (and they've even done the same for Clyne, Lallana, Lambert and others at times) every touch of the ball. If it happens hope he takes it as a spur on rather than negatively.

A bit of "We love you Lovren, we do" ad finitum from the away lads would do nicely!

Lambert was never booed, just to be clear.
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

I'd go

Karius

Clyne
Lovren
Klavan
Moreno

Stewart
Lallana
Gini

Firmino
Sturridge
Origi

And see where we are on 60 to try and pull Bobby, Sturridge and Lallana.

fully agree with this.

sturridge to come off first (for coutinho)
then firmino off for can (moving gini forwards)
then lallana or milner off for matip (give him five minutes in front of lovren and klavan and move stewart  or can to left back)

Unless we get thrashed or we thrash them, there's little chance of this tie being over tonight. Get at least one goal and we take an away goal back home for the second leg (even if it only counts after extra time).

Even with United Sunday still got to be full strength I think bar the goalkeeper. Aim to kill the tie off in this leg and rest players in the 2nd.

Something similar to the 6-1 would be lovely.

No. it's completely over blown for the least important domestic trophy. the two legs also come at a time when players are tired from the festive period - we have our own legacy of injuries in these games.

Don't think it's smacks of arrogance to say this game is ours to take comfortably and I'm not worried about it in the least.

Love 2 legged ties, that's the beauty of tonight, even if it did go pear shaped,we'd have to be on end of a good hiding still not to be favourites to get through.

Think we'll do the business tonight though....3-1 to the mighty reds. Everton fans on a high after their result last night, will be worried again!

Not sure if changing the keeper is the right thing to do but I suppose it could potentially increase his confidence.
