Amazing result.

A week later and they could have had a crowd in which is a shame. Hopefully they get a home tie 3rd round, rather than a big team at an empty stadium.

Eighth-tier Marine scored a 120th-minute winner to shock 10-man Havant and Waterlooville in the FA Cup second round.

Captain Niall Cummins converted from close range with seconds remaining after the visitors failed to deal with a free-kick.

The National League South side had to play the whole of extra-time a man light after Anthony Straker was sent off late on for a second bookable offence.

The game seemed to be destined for penalties but Marine, who knocked out League Two Colchester in the first round, found a late, late winner.

The Merseyside club, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One North West, had the better of the few chances created in normal time.

And it was experienced striker Cummins, 33, who dived in at the back post to force the ball over the line with his back after a free-kick was headed across goal.

"I'm not going to lie; I closed my eyes and it hit me in the shoulder or my back," he said.

"It is a dream come true for everyone. It was a tremendous effort and it'll live long in the memory."

Victory for Marine, whose league season is currently on hold because of the national lockdown, puts them into the third round for just the second time in their history.

The club will now host the draw for the third round on Monday at 19:00 GMT.

Be good to see Marine use this as a springboard progress as a club. Merseyside should have more non league clubs doing well really.

Looking at the ground though there's not much they can do with it. Hemmed in by housing on three sides and a main road behind the other.

Their stand used to be at the other end of the ground, so there may be more they could do with that end.
There used to be a very small standing area on the side the dugouts are in front of the houses. I just loved the shots of people in their gardens watching the game - brilliant.

I used to watch Marine every now and then, so I've got some emotional connection there, but I celebrated their goal more than I've celebrated any of ours for ages; and that's down to VAR. If that's a VAR game yesterday, you just know they'd be looking for reasons to disallow it. Offside, possible foul. possible handball. It was just great to watch a game and enjoy the drama for a change.

Thats great. Hopefully they get a good draw and can get 1,000 or so in the ground as there is no benefit of getting a big away tie this year. Altough  bet they are all hoping for Liverpool/Everton away.

I’m actually more interested in who they get than who we get at the moment!

Would they want a home tie against a big side, or an away trip? Presumably won’t be much of a crowd allowed so might as well hope for a big team at home and see how uncomfortable they can make them.

Imagine if they got United and Luke Shaw discovers the joys of Sattherthwaites.

This is partly what I mean about Merseyside non league clubs pushing on because it's a football mad region and although it'll always be red or blue, loads will want to just go and watch a local game of football without all the bullshit. Not to mention the hassle of even getting tickets for Liverpool..

More people should go and watch Marine or City of Liverpool or whoever. Instead of it just being a few locals.

WhilSt I am sure they'd like to experience pusher changing rooms etc, if they're away I doubt it'd be live and they won't gate money will they, so maybe they're beaten off making a team play on their bobbly pitch with 400 cheering them on, and more from their gardens :)

Be great this if they can get the fans in.

In normal times they'd have the dilemma of whether to move it to their ground for the money (or Anfield) but now they can play it at their home ground and get the TV money.

Would have been a sickener if they drew them away as they'd have lost out on about a million quid in gate money.
