There's a reason why Forest have been shit for a long time.  I doubt hiring O'Neil is changing that anytime soon.  His heydey was at Villa almost a decade ago and the game has changed a ton since then.  But good luck to them....

My point was that O'Neill's preferred way of playing - like Warnock's - tends to be suitable for both promotion and relegation battles, so I don't think giving him the job is automatically going to be a disaster.

What does everyone think of Martin O’Neill being confirmed as the new Notts Forest manager, with Roy Keane likely to follow?

I think it’s a strong appointment bringing in a proven manager with the club in his heart. They’re on an upturn, fighting for a pay off spot, and I can see Forest back in the prem either this or next year.

Would be fascinating to eventually see Roy Keane transition into the number 1 spot in a few years. One to watch

Can't fucking stand the prick.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Leeds lost to Stoke at the weekend, I hope this isn't the start of the traditional drop-off that Bielsa teams suffer from in the last third of a season. They have now lost three of the last four (edit: four of the last five if you include the FA Cup). They have had all-day training sessions quite regularly since the start of the season, so it might just be another example of Bielsa trying to roll that Sisyphean boulder up the hill. I hope not.

The Bielsa effect is in full swing. Lost 4 of their last 6. I'd put money on them missing automatic promotion and messing up in the play-offs.

Just dug up the Villa thread! Think t’Blades go top with a win don’t they?

Hasn’t Billy Sharp now scored more goals in English football (maybe the Football League) this century?

yup, only player to score 20 league goals this season and has scored more than Bolton wanderers. Man is 33 too, very impressive feat for someone who should be on the decline, only played two prem games in his career as well which is mad

Decided to watch Reading v Blackburn tonight. Reading 1-0 up but don't really deserve to be.

They won 2-1 in the end. Conceded with 10 to go but found a late winner. Not a great performance but they just need points right now so they won't be fussed!

And Norwich lost 3-1 to Preston.  :o

Bit of a backslide from them there. But it seems something they do every season.
