My first attempt at making wallpapers, no sensational special effects or anything, I'm just a newbie at photoshop. Any feedback would be great.

Can't find any of the original versions of these feckers cos they'd be ideal for the GTA thing.

I don't like the border on the Gerrard one but its a transparent png so could quickly be knocked up into a poster-style thingummibob.

Will try and get some time to do a decent one over the next few weeks anyway. I dug out some old discs last night and only found the exported versions so fingers crossed I'll find the original Illustrator files and save some time.

Been trying to do one of Raging Bull, but at the moment it looks like Robert De Niro wearing one of Elton John's wigs....which is probably not the look they were intending for when they fimed it.

What relevance have they to Liverpool FC. You've done some nice vector images but what've they to do with Liverpool, unless you're planning to change Corleone to Benitez which would make sense. Well, a little bit anyway.

Kitster, would it be possible to get copies of four of your trophy images to make some logos for the Spyin' Kop series, pretty please.

That's The League, Champion's League, FA Cup and Carling Cup.

Vectors would be nice :P I want to silverise them and reduce to about 110 pixels high.

Personally I think they're brilliant, as is all of Art's stuff. The phrase you're looking for is "thank you". ;D

Anyway, started the Torres one last night so will keep plugging away at it.

Not at home to Mr Manners some people eh?

Do a straw poll and I'm sure it will vary between:

1. A deep azure, like the warm tides blown on an Andalucian wind from the coast of Morroco.

2. A deep, deep brown with a seductive hint of hazell and a twinkle of emerald.

Ha! Top man dude - you've saved me a lot of time there. :)

I'm struggling to find an 'angle' for them at the minute, you know? At the moment it'll be a straight copy of the style without much spice to it.

Grand Theft Copa... nah, that's garbage...
Torres Vercetti... nah, that's garbage...

It needs a touch of Vandelay-style genius!

I see the vexel and vectoring type art is proving to be a bit popular, though I'm not really a fan of the trace art myself. I've just recently came to understanding the difference between the two, which most seem to confuse. Vectoring is not to be confused and takes a bit of getting used to. I've only recently started getting to grips with Illustrator and it's functionality (pain in the bollocks for the most part) but once I'm accustomed to it, I'll be knocking out a few wallpapers in vectored format rather than rasterized art work. I never really understood it before, but looking at some of Kitsters work on it, I can really start to appreciate just how difficult it can be to get stuff looking with that program to that standard.

What's 'vectoring' Macphisto, out of interest? Sorry for not being up to snuff but it's just a pastime for me these days. I started out using Illustrator 9 for technical illustration but it's been a good few years since I've needed anything more sophisticated than MS Visio at work.

I love Illustrator I have to say. Once you get used to the shortcuts your workflow can be lightning quick.

Anyway, can I just say - your stuff is absolutely incredible.

Thank you for asking that question Roy, because it's been buggin me for a while now. What's the big deal with "Vectors", have they a use other than just to look like they do? I feel they must, as that particular style of graphic has never really amazed me. Are they like templates for design or something, or just a computer graphic style cartoon image or somothing?

My understanding of it mate is that 'Vectors' are the mathematically calculated lines used to draw certain shapes that, when combined, create the art in some illustrations. 'Raster' drawings, as far as I'm aware, are the ones where you work on the individual bitmap pixels (a lot of the stuff done with tweaks in Photoshop, for example).

Vectors keep their shape and integrity no matter what scale you zoom to, so with a technology like SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), the image looks identical in quality terms no matter how much you zoom in or out. With Raster graphics, however, you'll get quality degradations according to how far you zoom in (I think anyway).

The term I'm toiling with is 'vectoring', but I think maybe that's to do with overlaying transparent layers to create depth effects. When you do that, it can cause the vector image to distort when you resize it etc... but I'm not sure.

McPhisto dude, is that about right?

It's far simpler than that Roy.

Here are examples that will explain everything.
Firstly a Rasta drawing and secondly some Vectra art.

Simple!
