I know the Apple refurb store has oft been mentioned on these pages, but here's a heads up for anybody who fancies a Macbook.

They are currently advertising this "while supplies last." This is a bit unusual as it suggests they have a few of these available rather than the usual one-offs.

My guess is this: Macbooks have just gone through a spec upgrade, although the model advertised was only upgraded in November last year; they probably have a pile of these returned as non-current by retail outlets; they will be as damned nearly-new as you can imagine.

So if you're thinking of buying a Macbook and would rather save £190 than have the absolute latest state-of-the-art (until next month) version I would highly recommend this as a serious bargain.

pc blueray / hddvd player & dvd rewriter £89

Sweet, i can't wait till the PC embraces BluRay, going by their adoption of DVD from CD it should be anytime around 2014  :)

Still, nice price for someone with a media center, dirt cheap bluray.

Anyway, back on topic, the iMac was ordered yesterday and arrived today. If it's a "refurb" it's a bloody good one - all the packaging is sealed; the main unit was in a sealed sleeve with plastic fim protecting all the shiny bits, it looks absolutely untouched; the keyboard, mouse etc are all shrink-wrapped; even the box for the keyboard etc. looks brand new. What are Apple playing at? A £170 saving on retail, I'm not grumbling!

Well, the iPod I got most certainly seemed that way. The MacBook on the other hand did betray some very light signs of use. Still delighted with it though, especially as they put 2 gig of RAM in it instead of the advertised 1!

Good deal for a good 1TB hdd- £99 from EBuyer. add an enclosure and you've got an external USB drive. Scan are doing the 750GB SpinPoint model for £72 with free delivery as well, which is slightly better value.

I'm trying to get Pro Evo 2008 on PS3, at best price. Anyone seen any good ones? I've checked all the usual suspects, play.com, amazon.co.uk etc - best I've found is £25.99 from Choices UK. Not a bad price, but anyone know of one better, perhaps someones bought recently?

This LaCie 1TB external drive seems like good value at £117.48.

Anybody have experience of this model, or the LaCie brand in general?

Not personally, but Ebuyer's generally a good place to look for reviews. Here's the model you linked to, I think and it sounds a bit so-so.

You don't want to know what like I am with spanners. Anyway, that eBuyers unit is out of stock now. Anyway-anyway, the LaCie unit apparently has a Samsung drive inside - are we looking at more or less the same thing, then?
