- who out of our current forwards, assuming Salah is on a downward curve and that Jota will be injured as much as he normally is, would you think is more likely to hit 20 league goals next season? Nunez.

For me it's Salah by a country mile. He scored 14 from 20 games before AFCON fucked us again. It's one of the reasons I'm not on board with shipping Mo out... without some January sojourn to an equatorial hellfest, he's every chance to bounce back strong, and I'm buggered if I'm having someone else reap the benefit for a cut price.

Momentum in sport is weird.

It appears the draw in League at OT really fucked us mentally.
It can be an overwhelming force or a fragile thing.

Unfortunately, you tend to lose it when you start handing the opposition the initiative. Once you start gifting opportunities it can quickly go wrong. Look at that suicidal move at Old Trafford. A gift of a pass to an opposition player while your goalkeeper has left the ground to purchase hot dog. You then get edgy. The opposition sniff it out and have a go. All your possession means nothing, as you piss about at the back, doing nothing with your 80% possession. Opposition hound you into yet more mistakes. You become even more edgy, which encourages them further. You keep miss-placing passes, your play becomes disjointed and ragged. Confidence ebbs away. You lack confidence and nothing runs for you or falls for you. Momentum is lost. Other opponents watch this then know exactly how to work on you.

I've said it a few times, but we've done this to ourselves. We've handed the initiative to our opponents and it's cost us. They know they can let us have the ball because we'll fuck about with it then lose it. Away at Goodison, 73% possession. Lost 2-0 and never looked like scoring. We showed teams how to beat us, and they're obliging.

It was the FA cup defeat in my view. We were night and day better than them, it was almost laughable. But that last minute goal completely pricked the bubble we'd all been in of the quadruple in klopps last season. We thought 'destiny' was enough to get us over the line, hence leaving 1 player back in injury time of extra time away at old trafford. Every game since we've huffed and puffed. We got over the line v Brighton I don't think I'd say we were convincing in any game post the international break bar maybe fulham on the weekend.

We won the next two league games, not convincingly but we got the wins. Then we went back there in the league. If we beat them (the more convincingly the better) it would have put the cup defeat to bed and got the momentum back. We fucked it again though and took that into Atalanta and Palace, players and the Anfield crowd.

I don't care. If Abu Dhabi win, it'll continue to make a mockery of the league. If Arsenal win, it'll be amusing to see Abu Dhabi lose.

Same goes with the FA Cup final.

Maybe it was but we went to Old Trafford in the PL with the title in our hands and fucked it up through poor finishing.

That game was dead then suddenly we are 2-1 down.

Also I'm really not buying it was Klopp leaving, that argument just falls to shit with the fact he announced in January and we've been winning fine and picking up trophies since then.

Something happened at the end of March, either that or we have just hit a wall of low energy, form and can't get out, which happens, sometimes it doesn't have to be some kind of specific reason or excuse.

Maybe we just ran out of luck?

If you look at our league games after the announcement: 1) we battered Chelsea the game after and played great.  2) Then we lost to Arsenal and got a chasing in that first half and then gave a ridiculous goal away after getting back in it. 3) Beat Burnley but we were poor in that game - they couldn't take advantage. We were at least clinical. 4) Beat Brentford but lost Jota, Salah and Jones to injury. Jota and Jones were on fire at the time. 5) Beat Luton but made a real meal of it and had to dig deep. 6) beat Forest in the last kick of the game, could have easily lost that one, didn't play well. 7) Really turned it on in the second half against City but fluffed a stack of chances and needed a pen to score (should have had another obviously). 8 beat Brighton but had to come from behind again and were panic stricken trying to see it out. 9) needed a wondergoal to beat really poor quality opposition. 10) Drew with United after failing to put the game to bed. 11) Lost to Palace after falling behind yet again and our goal touch deserted us. 12) did the job at Fulham but Jota gets injured again. 13) Concede a ridiculous goal and then fluff our lines at the other end.

13 games there sine the announcement - not many of them convincing wins/performances (and you could take it back further to November and it'd be a similar tale).

I said after the Brentford game those injuries have probably cost us the league. Salah never recovered from that injury, Jones hasn't and we got one goal from Jota since.

Love the man, but he's not good enough, simple as. Think a lot of our fans are in denial

Had enough time, and fans have been patient enough, but missing clear chance after chance is unacceptable at our club and isn't going to work out

That miss was unforgivable last night, unless it was a one-off, which it so painfully wasn't

Would Watkins or Isak miss that last night? To name but 2

Would love if we signed Isak. Hate KSA but love watching him play football

Until this morning I was convinced he had very little time to think about his shot and that he had to get it away quickly. But looking back at it again this morning he has time. It might only be a second but other strikers only need that to know where to place hit rather than just hitting it.
I wouldn't write him off after last night and I was perturbed to see he was high on the scapegoat list last night, however unfortunately for any existing and future Liverpool strikers we have a historical richness of previous quality to compare to. Strikers who were sharper, more clinical and more ruthless.

Fresh coaching might do him the world of good.

Biggest fan of his, but his got to across the keeper 10/10 times.

He does love a near post finish its quite annoying.
