Got 58 mins left of Man on Fire… does it get significantly better from here? Find it OK so far but far from the classic I was promised. Had to pause it for a bit to do something, so snuck on here to ask.

Personally, I think it's just a serviceable thriller typical of Tony Scott's work really.  I certainly don't consider it be a classic, I know some go mad on it though.

long time since i saw it but im pretty sure it starts slow iirc and improves significantly, i wouldnt call it special but i think 'a good film' is fair

If anyone likes a bit of mindless violence and countless bodies Extraction on Netflix is quite good. Directed by an ex stuntman apparently and staring Chris Hemsworth.

I managed a few minutes, if that, before turning it off. Stuff like that (and the feature length stranger things using a huge chunk of the content budget) makes me want to cancel my Netflix sub.

Jojo Rabbit on Disney Plus.

Lovely little film, the child lead is great and it's both reasonably funny and also quite heartwarming.

I like Taika Waititi's stuff a lot though, generally. Gave me a sort of Moonrise Kingdom vibe without the kitsch Anderson- Americana.

The Film 'Man on Fire' is absolute dogshite.

The novel is brilliant:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_on_Fire_(Quinnell_novel)

The Film wimped out on most of the things that would have made it a great film.

I liked it as well, I tend to like a lot of his stuff. Have you seen Eagle vs Shark? It's one of his earlier films and not as polished but it's quite charming in a bit of an oddball way.

No that’s one I’ve not seen, I’ll check it out, ta. I really liked Hunt for the Wilderpeople, that was very charming.

Jojo Rabbit is great in pretty much every way. The little fat kid cracks me up all the time and the scene where he finds his mum in the square gets me all the time as well :(

So sad about James Caan passing away its so strange I watched the Godfather again last night and I thought I hadn't seen him in anything new for a while and checked to see if he was still still alive and happy to see he was.

And now this very sad news R. I. P James

One of mine, the relationship between him and Tuesday Weld was brilliant and heartbreaking.  People love Michael Mann, they love Caan, yet Thief is under watched and under appreciated.

found the new Jurassic Park film a bit boring which is strange because there is loads of action in it.

Some bits are strange like some Dinosaurs were chasing a girl and she could out run them the next minute the same Dinosaurs were nearly keeping up with a speeding motorbike and the next scene they were keeping up with a plane speeding down a runway

It was really, really poor, I thought.

Plot was loose and full of holes. To your dinosaur issues I'll add:

Spoiler
BioSyn (oooh, Bio-sin, how clever... *groan*), the most advanced tech company in the world with the least advanced security in the world. How did the dinosaurs spread so quickly in just 4 years?!?!?  The locusts thing was so dumb I was sure it was misdirection, but no, BioSyn were responsible despite it being so obvious that they were responsible. The whole DNA thing was nonsense too.  They just needed the girl's DNA sample, right?  So why embark on a massive elaborate kidnapping scheme across multiple countries involving dozens of people?
[close]

Those are just some - there are so many more issues.  I think I've never said 'for fuck's sake' as many times while watching a movie. Hopefully the franchise is now extinct.

It is. Not even going to attempt to explain why.  My daughter took the youngest the other night and a bunch of random kids in suits ran about for a bit and then fucked off.
