Could be a quick reaction to the low attendances we have seen at times this season.

As for those complaining about passing it through families; my ST was passed down from my Grandad who had it for donkeys years - I'll have it until I pass it to my son. It'd be a disgrace if the club tore away an ST from a family that has had it for over thirty/forty years once the holder dies/can't go anymore.

Wouldn't that leave only about 5000 non ST and non away fans.

They'll want more day trippers than that!

Daytrippers spend money, granted. But Season tickets guarantee seats are filled.

I have been on the waiting list for about 14 years,i'd be surprised if there is a list to be honest-re-apply and wait another 14 years, load of shit expected.

theyve been trying to save face without actually dealing with the situation and putting it right by the sounds of it.
they should look at who has been going regularly over the years and that should take priority in my view.
its one thing having youre name down for donkeys years but for me ,the important fan is the one who has shown loyalty by actually splashing the cash week in week out.

the season ticket list has been messed up for so long, that  there are good fans who never bothered to get on the list because it was pointless.

I had a seasie from 1983 to 92.

I re-applied in 2000/01.

Since about 1995 ish, I have had a season ticket every year...... just not in my name.

Since then, I've had a season tickets from 5 different people.

I've been known as John, Bob, Alan, Paul, and even Sue.    Yes thats right, 'SUE'.

I can count on one hand, the amount of home games I've missed in that time.

There is no doubt thousands of people who are on the list who have never been to a game or been to 2 in about 10 years, they should give preference to members/fancard holders with games over them people because at least they are actively going to games and can be seenfrom their purchase history etc.

Sorry to throw a spanner in your works, but there is an annomaly to that theory.

The funny thing about purchase history, is it doesn't tell the full story.

If they looked at my own purchase history, then they'll see that I've been to every home cup game (and many, many aways) in the last........ well, since the introduction of the fancard.

yet, my own fan card does not show any league games on it.

Does this make me a cherry picking fairweather supporter, or not?

The reason my own fancard has no league games on it, is I currently have my best mates season ticket, and have had since about 2003.
He got out of the habbit, and stopped going. I took it on, gladly.

It's in his name, not mine, and I've been informed that I can not change it over, because the rules are you can only pass it on within a family.

So I'm in the quandry of missing only a hand full on games ( in all competitions ) in the last 17-18 years, yet have virtually zero purchase history of league games.

Where does that leave me!

As for the shambles that is the Ticket Office.

Last season ( 1009/10), March to be precise, I sent a letter to the TO with an S.A.E in it, for an update on the season ticket waiting list, and where I was on it.

. . . . . . . . . I got a reply about two and a half weeks ago, to tell me the result.

YES, THAT'S RIGHT.   11 months and a missing S.A.E. just to tell me, I'm still on the list.

Why mate?
Why do you deserve to go the game more because your grandad did?

As it happens, I think they'll offer an amnesty on them so your season ticket can legitmately be in your name - there's just too many like you to do anything else.
But I know loads - and everyone knows loads - who haven't used their season ticket in years but rent it out to other reds.
The renter is happy because he keeps his ticket.
The rentee is happy because he's no idea where he is on the waiting list and he gets to go the game every other week.
But it's not right.  The rentee should be able to get his own ticket.
The renter should lose his because he doesn't go anymore.

The whole thing needs sorting out, and you should have to release your ST for general sale (minus a booking fee for the club) if you can't make a game.
And I say that as someone who'll be using someone else's ticket on Sunday.

I sent them a letter 7/8 years ago asking to be added to the waiting list never heard a dickie bird from them, wouldn't be surprised to find out I am not even on it  ::)

Much the same for me, applied 10 years ago, heard nowt back and checked a while back, unsurprisingly was told there was no record of my original application.

Didn't bother reapplying, its not like its realistic that I would get one anyway, even if they didnt lose my details

If people want to hand down or pass on the season ticket, then that is fair enough. A one off season loan happens too, we all know that.

But if someone is using, in regular seasons, someone elses season ticket, why not just get the name changed? The TO can do this, I believe.

Why?  Why is it fair enough that you can pass it on to someone in the family?
I can understand why you might think it is at first pass, but if you think about it it's bollocks.
You buy a season ticket to go watching the team that season.  Having a season ticket means you should get first refusal on that same season ticket for the year after.
Where the fuck does it becoming a family heirloom come into it?
That wasn't the deal when you signed up, why do you think it's the deal now?

Liverpool FC will begin a process to consolidate and clean up the Season Ticket waiting list later this month and hope to inform supporters of their position on the list before the summer.

The Club understand the Season Ticket waiting list is an emotive subject and believe those already on it should have more clarity about their respective position in order to better assess their chances of obtaining a Season Ticket in the future.

History

The Season Ticket waiting list was officially opened in 1996, when the Club invited applications by letter from supporters, with later requests also submitted via an opt-in option on the Fan Card application forms. Over the past 15 years, over 70,000 fans have registered their interest and the Club now plans to tidy up the list and ensure everyone on it knows exactly where they stand.

Process

Every single Season Ticket waiting list application received between 1996 and 2011 has been captured digitally, in date order, and Liverpool FC will initially be contacting the first 25,000 supporters on the list. A letter will be sent to the home address of each of these fans with instructions on how to confirm they still want to buy a Season Ticket and, in doing so, maintain their position on the list.

Timelines

The first letters will be sent out during the week commencing March 28th, with a deadline for all responses to the Club of April 29th. Once all replies have been processed and those who no longer wish to be included on the list removed, Liverpool FC will unveil an online version of the Season Ticket waiting list on the Club website.

Later this year, the Club plan that a further communication will be made to remaining supporters (outside of the first 25,000 already contacted) outlining their options if they wish to remain on the list and be considered should a Season Ticket become available in the future.

A comprehensive list of FAQs will be released on this website on March 9th - please do not contact the Club with a question before reading them - and will provide answers to questions such as:

Q: How will I know whether I am one of the first 25,000 supporters on the list?

A: The first 25,000 applicants will each receive a letter from the Club as part of this communication process. All 25,000 applicants applied by letter - not Fan Card application form - and joined the list before April 2004 and will have received a letter at the time confirming their application from the Club. Should you have a query, the onus is on you to supply this original letter and prove your application.

Q: What happens if I have moved house since I applied?

A: As clearly stated at the point of applying, it is up to each supporter to keep the Club informed about address changes. Your letter will be sent to the address that we have registered on the waiting list database. If you have moved house since applying and not informed us, you should make efforts to retrieve the letter from the old address. Our Customer Services Team may be able to help you should this not be possible.

Q: Will I have to pay to be on the list?

A: Yes, the Club will be charging an initial £5 registration fee.

Q: What is this fee for?

A: This initial fee is to help cover the cost of this project.

Q: What's happening with the Adult / Child and the Disabled Season Ticket waiting lists?

A: The Club will be contacting supporters on both of these lists separately but we are dealing with the Adult list first.

Same here - been sitting in the same seat for 16 years , but it's not my ticket .

I've noticed there's an article on RAWK stating that the waiting list is between 10k to 14k , but I'd guess that's way under the reality . Sure I read a few years ago that it was 55000 on the list , and although there's no way that many would take up a ticket if they had the option , I'm sure a good proportion would .

Edit - just seen the post above by Graeme

I wonder how many the 75,000 will come down to after this exercise.

I reckon the real waiting list will end up at less than 10,000.
Of that first attempt to trim the 25,000 I'll go for 3,000 actuals.
With a further 3,000 from the rest of the process, and then a few thousand more will join in the on-line one from scratch if they think there's a chance they'll actually get a season ticket at some point.

This might not be the right place to state this again, but anything over 60,000 seats for us is madness.  We don't have the match-going fan-base.

Best of a bad situation, really. The demand for tickets has been so high, and more so with our recent exploits (circa 2005). Many of those on the list, who went on it some 15 years ago, may have a season ticket already. Circumstances may have changed significantly (location, job, family, lifestyle etc).

Of those 25,000 first contacted, what is the bet that atleast 50% (if not a lot more) of them are no longer in a position to stay on the list, or don't want too, or they don't get the letter due to them changing/moving address. EDIT: Or as said above, wont pay the £5 for whatever reason. So I bet the list could be reduced to a much lower figure. Easily.

The list will be cleansed, and worked down. Until eventually they get a more manageable amount of people, and an online tracking system so people can see where people stand in the list.

It says they started the list in 1996 but I'm sure I applied about 1994.

Yeah, I was definitely at uni when I applied and I graduated in 1995, pretty sure it was 1995 I applied. God knows what address I used though, hopefully my parents' one rather than my old uni house. Really not expecting to get a letter in the first 25,000 now, reckon mine will count from when they suddenly added it to my purchase history a few years ago. :-\
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Sounds fair enough and I dont think people will mind the £5 fee to sort this mess out.
