Really interested to see how he does in a game where we're not just camped out in the opponent's half. Given our style of play, I'd like to see how he links up with the front 3 on the counter.

One thing that stands out about him is how comfortably and naturally he is getting into and operating in the opponent's area. I remember a time 4-5 years ago when we had Benteke and Balotelli, when that was a massive problem for us.

It's not so much of a problem now, but it's still a very good quality to have.

Well with Balotelli, the issue wasn't getting into the area - it was getting anything done once he was there!

Done well, young Rhian.

He is going to have a relatively big part to play this season. He will almost certainly start the early round of cup games if he is available. He will also get plenty of opportunities from the bench if one of our front 3 are injured. Maybe even starting if he proves himself able for the big stage. I think a good season for the lad would to be to get a few starts and appearances from the bench playing alongside our stars, while being able to bang 5+ goals over all competitions in the process.

If he takes those chances he will get this year, next season and beyond will be massive for him. Best of luck to the lad. I like his attitude.

You might struggle with that, we camp out in the opposition half in the Nou Camp these days.  :scarf

Watching some of his highlight reels for youth teams at LFC and England, it seems like on top of just being a lethal goal scorer he also loves to drop deep in that Firmino type position and play through balls for wide players.

That will make his transition to the first team much easier as we have probably the most lethal players in world in those positions.

Probably his biggest attribute, that almost defines him, and that is often not mentioned, is his high levels of confidence.
He's got that swagger that often propels players of his age through the footy 'glass ceilings'.

His style of play yesterday reminded me a bit of Rushie.

Quick, finisher and poacher, holds the ball up well and works his arsenal off to get it back.

Only thing maybe missing for a player of his type/size is his dribbling. Has pace but not that trickery to beat players like Sancho or Odoi. Reminds me a bit of Owen lol.

His style of play please note, I see similarities..

Whether his level is anywhere near that of rush is a totally different question

His composure is obviously good, but it is by now talked about a lot.

I liked his holding the ball up and his linkup yesterday. He seemed to have an understanding with Wilson and Ox at the right side where they played some quick layoffs/one twos just didn't materialize but it was really promising.

Rushie had amazing composure in front of goal. All the best strikers do.

I guess that might be one other thing that you see a similarity in?

I know it's only Tranmere, but he doesn't look like a youngster getting his chance to impress in preseason, he looks like a regular member of the first team, at 19 years old, having missed over a season due to injury. Such a massive talent.

For his sake I hope we manage to get that creative AM that we really need right now.

Our non Firmino no.9s usually depend on the service much more than Bobby does - to be more of the poacher in this team you need our AMs to be much more creative. Hopefully it'll click for him this season, it'd be truly awesome if he saved us a ton of money by becoming a legitimate option up front for us.

We won’t be getting that type of player.

I like both his goals.

1st - the cross was slightly behind him, and he still was able to head it in

2nd - although it was a "glorified tap in", he still had to anticipate where the ball was gonna land after the milner shot.

Looked damn cool throughout the 1st half...

Only Tranmere, only Bradford. But. Three goals in 90 minutes, three goals from very few chances. Just as nice to see has been his composure and selection of passing, workrate, movement off the ball and linking with teammates via one twos and little flicks.

Really looking forward to seeing him play more.

Yeah his general play is way more composed than I thought it might be and pairing that with his poacher's instinct means he has the makings of a very good player.

Sometimes it feels like some of you purposely don't read properly. I said he's nearly as well rounded as Firmino meaning he can pass, he can dribble press, and finish good, doesn't equate to saying his as good, it means he's game is well rounded which is why he has played as a number 10, number 9 and pn the wings throughout his youth career.

I can read properly thank you. Nearly, closely, marginally, however you want to dress it up, he's not near Firmino.  He has potential, like many other young players that have played for this club. Hopefully he becomes a good player for us, but there's a lot for him to do for him to be NEAR Firmino let alone as good. Firmino is a top class footballer who is unique in the way he operates for us on the pitch.

Don't get me started on Harry Wilson and how you've overrated him at every opportune moment that's worthy of a thread of it's own.

You might be able to read properly, but if you can then you are wilfully misunderstanding his point, his comment seemed clear enough, well-rounded implying a similar skillset rather than saying he was as good as Firmino.

Then maybe it's you're comprehension skills. If I said two years ago that TAA was a more well
Rounded footballer than Clyne you would say the same thing, but it's the truth even at youth level TAA was showing skills and capable of doing things Clyne could only dream of, at the same time as a player he wasn't close to being better than an England international and one pf the best Rbs in the league, but Clyne couldn't take a free kick like TAA, he couldn't pass like TAA or cross the ball like him even when Trent Arnold was 16, this doesn't mean saying all that I would play a 16 yet old TAA over Clyne as there are other important aspect to football and being a footballplayer than solely technical ability, which for most footballers only see them make marginal improvements from that age onwards anyways.

Now use than example and apply same to what I said, Brewster is nearly as well rounded as Firmino because as a young striker he can do most things with the ball at his feet, for England u17's he played as a sort of poacher surrounded by creative marvels, for us he's played as a winger and a number 9 more involved in the build up, he can dovetail between roles so seamlessly because not only is he a well rounded footballer but an intelligent one also, (this was a point made by Babuyugu at the time as well)y et saying that there's players at a higher level who can do less on paper but are better strikers than the young lad is right now, and there are technical maestros playing in league 1 who couldn't put some premiership footballers to shame on a pure technical basis.
