On episode 8 of S3

Wow,some boss acting in that. Ben is superb

Such a sad episode

Yeah, agreed.  That was one of the most heartbreaking bits of tele that I've seen in some time and brilliantly acted all 'round.

I agree with sinnermichael and afc turkish in that series 3 went up a gear from the previous 2 and was the best so far.  I genuinely feel that this show has another 3 series/season/whateverthefuck at least left in it without running out of stories to tell and recycling plot lines, though 5 series seems like the most likely length from what I've read.  Either way, series three has been absolutely phenominal in my opinion and I can't wait for four.

Interesting clip of Bateman talking about the whole acting and directing thing in Ozark below.  Comes across as a highly intelligent guy:

Great actor is Jason Bateman.  Weird thing is, he never really does anything spectacular but plays the "normal bloke in over his head" better than most. Almost like he's underacting at times.

Also, watching him in the first 3 seasons of Arrested Development (the last 2 didn't actually happen), he will go down for me as the best straight man/reactor to ridiculous situations I've seen

He does passive aggressive better than anybody,I don't have much to go on though as I've only seen him in this and The Outsider.

Julia Garner is a terrific actor,I always end up laughing no matter what the scene is about.

Finished season 3 last night, been limiting it to a episode a night.

Brilliant season, still below season 1 for me though.

The actor who played the brother was so brilliant, i hope he gets some award recognition.

Helen Pierce should be called the Harbinger Of Death, she's so ruthless.

I always thought she was a Yank.

She's a great character, i don't think i've seen her acting in anything else.

Might have to check out her work on IMDB.

I thought it wasn’t as good as the first two series. Thought it was obvious what was going to happen to the brother the minute he showed up. Not enough of Darlene in it either, she scares the pants off me. Overall it was decent but not as good as the previous two.

Same exact place as you! Great show so far. I've avoided all spoilers; glad I did. A few surprises already in only 2 episodes.

I think it is too short still to be compared with the very best - those series had longevity and consistency across many, many years.

Sounds like the kind of thing United fans say about VvD! :P

I can't say I ever felt this show built on its superb start in S1, but season three has changed my perception of it almost entirely. The ending was a little predictable, but that aside it's superbly written and acted throughout.

Spoiler
With regards to the ending, I just found Helen creating the false confession a little out of character to be honest. She already had the Byrd's on the ropes by generating a casino license with Charlie, so there was no real need for someone usually so calm and calculated to give herself away to her boss via a pretty obviously desperate move.

Truly memorable and superb dramatic irony, though, that Ben ended up being the Byrd's saviour by bringing Jonah and the drone to the cartel bombing. Probably one of the best introductory characters in TV history, to be honest. Episodes 8 and 9 were tough to watch.

Agree it’s not been as strong since the first series in my view, but I do think they ramped it back up towards the end of this latest series. Ultimately very watchable without being great for me.

I'm dumbfounded to learn that Peter Mullan, who is terrific as Jacob Snell, is Scottish. :o Incredible accent.

What's really encouraging to me is everyone saying S3 is better than S2. Because I loved S1 and today I'm at about S2 E7, and I think S2 has been excellent. So I can only imagine what's ahead.

2 or 3 heart-stopping things happening in every episode. I'm half expecting an episode where they to have to defuse an atomic bomb on a sinking boat on fire, with an angry grizzly bear on board, while aliens are trying to abduct them. :D
