Isn't that fair, though?

if performances don't improve by November then I'm sure the owners wouldn't be the only ones calling for a change. But I hope things do improve and Kenny stays of course.
The mod Gareth & I had similar discussions about Rafa and the "what ifs", it all depends on circumstances and for me the elements of luck. But hey, this is about today's news not potential news.

Ruthless say some, reckless says I.

Whilst people are lining up to praise them for ruthlessly dismissing Comolli for last summer, they’re missing the wood from the trees. The idea that the DoF is perhaps the most long-term role at the football club, and also that it was recklessness on their part initially to hire Comolli in that role through sheer nepotism.

*snip*

I’m being asked to place faith in a long-term strategy where people are employed through nepotism, and now we’re being asked to hold faith while they correct that ‘mistake’, with another decision on a whim with seemingly no advice behind it from someone of a football background. We’ll see.

What a rambling repetitive post to say one thing.

Sure, it wasn't a good idea to hire him but, as you said yourself, they had no knowledge of the game and no-one to go to to ask about it.  So why not employ someone on a recommendation.  The club has to continue running and they had to get advice from somewhere.  Sure it went wrong but it was better than nothing.  Maybe now they have an idea of what it takes they will take their time in appointing someone to do a better job.

Geez!

Sorry to stray, but why was he looking for a central defender?!

given that he's just been fired I'm not sure why anyone cares who he was looking for

"Comolli, 39, was left “stunned and devastated” by his sudden departure, according to friends. He insisted that he had been taken totally by surprise at FSG’s decision to dispense with his services 18 months after appointing him."

"The imminent departure of Brukner comes as no surprise as the Australian did not see eye to eye with Dalglish and his influence had waned as a result."

Haha, love that article, it's so wonderfully Dutch. Someone's obviously mentioned Cruyff, Van Gaal has over heard and and thought "I'm not having that".

Wasn't Cruyff not happy with Van Gaal being a possible candidate for DoF at Ajax? As long as he kept his pants on, he could be quite an interesting candidate who wouldn't be against making the odd controversial decision against sacred cows in favour of younger talents. Also, I doubt we'd be making a Txiki bid for Begiristain for that position.

We fucked up this season in the league so Comolli's getting the sack
So Cruyff comes in, but turns out Cruyff still has connections with Catalonia Ajax Youth Ajax Not Ajax so Cruyff's gettin' the sack
So Kenny moves up to take the position, then we realise he was poor as the DOF when he previously did it, so Kenny's ge'in the sack
This clears the way for Rafa however turns out Rafa's going to move to Chelsea apparently 100% and we can't have that so Rafa ge'in de sack
And with half our squad injured, our Medical dude Bruckner's g'in d sack
I think we should hire Maradona to fill all the roles because..because why the fuck not.

Cruyff is still with Ajax. His resigning with the advisory board was planned long before as he wanted the other members out and be replaced with his minions.

Your best and closest Ajax candidate will probably be Louis van Gaal.
