Screw this.  If this imaginary story isn't announced by the time I've finished watching The Notebook I'm off to bed.

You deserve not to know if you watch shite like that.

Wouldn't take on that role. He's not hands on anymore, isn't at Ajax currently, and wasn't the last decade at Barcelona. He merely advises people, knows how the club structure and technical policy should be, how the youth academy should be, and what type of people should be in which positions. But he'll never be a 100% invested into anything anymore.

Actually he is, with Ajax. He invested a lot of time and devotion to Ajax the past 2 seasons and he won't stop before we have found a new DOF (the position is still vacant) and are back with the top of Europe.

The reason why he's not involved with Barca anymore is because he was the man behind Laporta being elected. Rosell, their current president had lost campaigns before against them and is so bitter about it that once installed he filed a lawsuit against Laporta and forced Cruyff to resign his honorary presidency title.

Totalllll Footballl....

I was thinking of starting this thread but calling it "OMGZ amazing news from the beeb" :)

Anyway, would Cruyff be good? Hard to say, but certainly has a lot of runs on the board, and is undoubtedly a legend of the game.

Argh! Will it now be an influx of shitty threads with random name for random position at LFC?!

Fuck sake. Even if some twat jorno writes twatish stuff somewhere - does not mean its threadworthy.

And that piece is so fucking thin it's see-through.

I've no idea how it would work out to be honest.

Can anyone tell me why we need one?

Our greatest achievements were overseen by fantastic managers, players and fans with the backing of the board, why the necessity for a DOF?

Because our wage bill now is, what, £80m?  £100m?  It was probably closer to £10m last time we won a title.

FSG had been recommended some really big names, also inc. Van Gaal, but knew of their reputations as difficult men to work with.

I would really like to know who these recommendations are coming from.

Seems clear to me that the contact with Dein has been in an advisory role for a new DoF

Why do we need a DOF ?  The majority of the world's biggest clubs manage without one, previous managers coped fine.  In my opinion all it does is clouds who has ultimate responsibility.
