Surely Wilder is due a mandatory?  Which would be Whyte.

Stiverne was his mandatory which was quite recent.

You're supposed to have a mandatory every year, and Stiverne was a year ago.  They had waived that requirement for the Fury rematch, but if that's not happening then he should be due.

They might make Whyte take a final eliminator though.

Hopefully there’s an angle for Dillian Whyte to have a crack at Wilder next. It would be a great opportunity for Deontay to raise his profile in the UK & for Whyte to win the World title.

Boxing is such a mess at the best of times. Now Whyte will probably have to go some other route if Wilder decides to take on Brezeale. And Fury apparently needs to boost his US profile, what a bunch of shite. I get it's a money-making business but they really do fuck the fans over so often.

Its fuck all about boosting his US profile and all about him not losing the first fight of his new contract. Everyone can see that.

That's what I felt. Why else would you need an interim when everyone thinks you were robbed?

Not saying he will definitely lose but if he does then ESPN have thrown £80m down the drain because he wouldn't get a Wilder rematch and wouldn't get in the ring with Joshua any time soon.

Frank Warren has more or less admitted as much.  Funny how we've gone from 'this deal will mean the fight is easier to make' to 'ESPN insisted on a tune up fight' in a week.

What’s also interesting is Frank Warren saying this is out of his control. Essentially Fury now belongs to Top Rank and ESPN.

Who better to boost your profile against then the only US heavyweight world champion? He isn't going to boost his profile against anyone because he is boring to watch against anyone other than a top fighter. Only potential decent opponent is Ortiz. Everyone else is tied up I think or isn't a name in the states anyway.

Warren isn't stupid. He has a say but ESPN and Warren know they can afford to risk losing a 80m deal on the first fight.

Think they will wait until Josh gets beat or wait few years to fight Josh or Wider(again).

It's cunty but it's also hilarious.

I liked Froch as a fighter, but I feel he'll forever be bitter about not getting the Calzaghe fight.

Calzaghe would have baptised him
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

I think it would have been a close fight for 8-9 rounds but Calzaghe's superior skill and ring intelligence would have won it for him.

I was a big fan of Carl Froch as a fighter but the fact remains that he retired and didn't face Degale. The same thing he ripped Joe Calzaghe over for years.

It’s not like that hasn’t been taken out of context or anything is it.

The other three are direct tweets from actual accounts and the froch one is an apparent quote with nothing to back up that he actually said it.

Kessler gave Calzaghe a bit of trouble so you never know.

I think the thousand hand slap would have won the day in the end though.

Kessler was a top quality operator and he did give Calzaghe something to think about before Joe took over. A belt for all the marbles.

A less fresh version of Kessler handed Froch his first L

Froch would have been competitive with Calzaghe but would have lost imo, something he himself thought would have occurred if the fight had gone to points

Don't get me wrong, Calzaghe would have beaten Froch, there aren't many in the history of 168 he wouldn't have. But it would have been competitive. Especially since by the time Froch came on the scene he'd had a few hand injuries and lost whatever power he had.

Definitely see a competitive fight between the two. Froch is a complete twat but we should not make out that he was some mug; he was an excellent fighter.

In his mind Froch thinks he'd have beat every great Middleweight.  Hagler?  Pfft would've battered him in 3.  Monzon? beat the little argie by 6th round.
