Absolute tragedy, so sad for his family and friends.

He was electric at the start of his career, then felt homesick I think. So sad though.

RIP Reyes

RIP

What a shame when such young lives are taken away. He also seems to be an absolute legend and a role model for a generation of Spanish players, particularly those from Sevilla, like our own Moreno. By all accounts, he seems to have been a great guy around the younger players. Such a shame that this has happened.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Single car accident. He was driving with his 23 year old cousin in the rear seat and another passenger in the front. The cause is TBC but it seems he was driving at high speed in his Mercedes Brabus S550 when ran off the road and burst into flames. Reyes & his cousin died, the third passenger made it out but was badly burned.

https://www.diariodesevilla.es/provincia/accidente-trafico-Sevilla-Utrera-Jose-Antonio-Reyes_0_1360064179.html

Sounds eerily similar to when River Plate starlet Diego Buonanotte's three friends died when he ran into a tree at high speed in late 2009. Buonanotte broke a leg himself, but his survival was really remarkable and he was able to return to the field soon enough, later playing for Málaga and AEK Athens, that after a near-certain fatal impact. Excessive speeds are really dangerous on narrow roads... It's such a tragic way to leave three kids behind, but once it happens it's way too late to turn back  :'( The car bursting into flames also really is bound to kill anyone severely injured since they're trapped. What a nightmare.

Shocking news.

He was brilliant player to watch with his blistering pace in that top Arsenal side, and he scored some worldies i recall.

Watching a programme on Thierry Henry on sky, had to stop, too many highlights involving Reyes.

In 2004 and 2005 Reyes was excellent for us, many times our best performer. You always expect people to grow old, he hasn't even stopped playing yet.

So sad.

Crashed at 200kph according to Spanish press.  Didn’t stand a chance. Hopefully it was a quick end.

Rest in peace it’s such awful news. I agree with loved ones in the car that’s a crazy speed to be going at, goes as a reminder that’s it’s always OK to tell the driver or your mates to slow down if they are going too fast, it doesn’t matter if you think it doesn’t look cool doing so.

Apparently it was a road known for speeding, though he was 70mph over the speed limit, police say his tire blew and he lost control of the car, it was a car he hadn't driven in 8 months and the tire pressures were low.

Heartbreaking for his family, and those of his passngers, you could lose everything just by speeding in a car.
