In the immediate term I think the starters for next season are:

Becker (I hope)
Trent
Mcallister
Diaz
Jota

I don't think any other place is certain. Obviously Jota's injury records is a concern though.

Got to think Salah will move on so we need to replace him, buy a reliable back up for Jota and we still probably need another forward unless you're assuming Gakpo and Nunez step up their game consistently.

Midfield is a big worry for me.

Van Dijk: “Arne Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment”.

“With the way he plays, the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach”.

“But I read and hear that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, still a long way off”.

I don’t know when or where he said that but apparently he did. Pretty much confirms it all. Anyway, “one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment” isn’t much of an endorsement :D

Van Djik is not one to go OTT about anything.

You only have to listen to his interviews very casual but gives little away.

Momentum in sport is weird.

It appears the draw in League at OT really fucked us mentally.

Blaming Slot for yesterday is a bit of a reach, this is gonna be a grim few years isn't it? Anything less than an unbeaten league and CL double next season and he'll get hammered.

That will be true of any manager though, not just Slot. I mean even if Alonso had got the job while I think a lot more would stick by him, you will always get the dissenting voices in the background. It's why perspective is needed.

Hello. My name is Phoebe and I'm working on a documentary about Kenny Dalglish and LFC during the 70s and 80s. I am looking to gather as much footage as possible for the film. If anyone has any personal footage we might be able to license or just a collection of footage / any clips, please do get in touch with me! My email address: phoebe@jettyfilms.co.uk

Many thanks,

Phoebe

Hi Phoebe,

I'm not sure how much help they'd be, but have sent you an email with a few links to some online content on Kenny linked to on here, and a couple of suggestions for other people to reach out to who often post type similar material (albeit far better, and occasionally rare/lost/oft-forgotten footage) from that era, online.

Hope the project does really well - and wish you all the best with this.   :thumbup

Its more likely that than your ridiculous Alonso theory.

More ridiculous than flags? What would potentially demoralise you more?

The lack of game management and this inability to keep things tight for the first half hour is frustrating. We gave their fans a reason to keep the atmosphere boiling, didn't the offside goal come from Robertson making a marauding run up the left and losing the ball??
Klopp even said it himself after the game - what more can he do then, it's up to the players on the pitch to just slow things down, take the sting out of the game, we played the game on their terms

This is where you need your midfield players to take control and set the tempo, that was all wrong last night

Higgins and Jones in the balance.

Wouldn't mind Jones doing the business tomorrow  :D

Me too. He has a chance as Higgins is not the force he was.

Hawkins out too so Ronnie’s potential path now is Page (virtually done), Day, Lisowski, Trump, Allen/Wilson in the final. Have a sneaky feeling Ford might give Trump a tough game in the next round.

With all the seeds falling there will be some strange looking last 16 and QF matches.

Bit of a grim list.

I will preface this to say I only think 3 maybe 4 of them are targets we should look at. But the amount of strikers in demand is big and so where other clubs will be shopping is big.

I would have Openda, Boniface, Martinez, and maybe David. But Arsenal and Chelsea will be shopping in this list, the chances of them both signing the players we want and can get, if we are looking for a 9, is slim.

People will be on the market for a striker but the number of strikers in the market, whether right for us or not, is high, so I am not as concerned about all the ones we may want going elsewhere
