They keep on about the injuries in defence and Ederson today, but honestly think Sane has been as costly as any of them. Sterling is the only one with the pace and trickery out wide, and good as he is they massively miss someone else doing the same thing on the other side or in place of.

After winning 4 league titles this decade, 3 of which were razor thin close and could have gone either way, plus like a dozen domestic cups, you would think the club and their fans would take setbacks like this a little more in stride.

Yet they seem more bitter than ever.  Even accouting for all the ills found in the modern game I'm bemused by the extent of their seemingly endless fume. You would find less plastic in a hundred combined Ikea stores than accumulated in this solitary, profoundly entitled club.

Home advantage, couple of players out, plus arguably the best ref in the league.  This is what it takes to level the playing field against Manchester City.

When the snideness doesn't work, the surrounding the ref, the cynical tactical fouls, the deliberate punts at an arm to try and win a penalty, the dives... they chuck their toys out the fucking pram.

They lost four league games in the whole of last season.  This year they've already lost three.  A true champion who respects the fact they might have to scrap and fight for the right gets on with it.  This shower will be moaning about their injuries for the rest of the season and saying, "we go there full strength and we're winning that, what a load of shite".
