Thomas Lemar with 0 goals and 0 assists this season. Bullet well and truly dodged there, especially for the prices being quoted at the time.

I think it has been confirmed by reputable sources that we were after him for the right price but then Arsenal came and offered €90m on the final day of the window which we were unwilling to match. Lemar had decided to join Liverpool once the deal was done and didn't fancy the idea of joining Arsenal so stayed at Monaco before eventually joining A.Madrid.

Similarly, I'd love to know what was going through the head of Joao Felix and his advisors last summer other than maybe he'd could score like Greizmann for a few seasons and then move to Barcelona

Portuguese and Brazilian football seem to have a bit of a conveyor belt thing going on where the players just get moved around by other parties without them really deciding anything for themselves, could just a case that certain people would make enough money in the deal for them to consider it worthwhile.

Hazard. €100m rising to €146.1.
Felix. £110m.
Jovic. £60m.
Griezmann. €120m.
Dembele. €105 million rising to €145 million
Coutinho. €160 million.

The money in football nowadays is ridiculous, especially for players that fit like square pegs in round holes.

Think the issue goes much deeper than just Messi being surrounded by 'average' players. I actually think he's part of the problem with his old guard buddies that run the dressing room and surely that God-awful Barca board are screwing things up too.

No player is bigger than a club, even Messi, and it seems like he's bigger than Barca and has been for a little while now.

Completely forgot about Thomas Lemar, thats 70 million Euros.

Thats about 700 million euros worth of players, and none have them excelled so far.

We have become numb to the money in football. Top Spanish clubs love pissing money up the wall.

I still think Joao Felix will go on to be one of the best attacking players in world football - If he can build up enough stamina to last 90 minutes that is.

He got transferred about a year too early. So far at Atletico he's shown he can dribble 10 yards and do a couple of one-twos, he should be playing for a much more offensive unit and breaking down defences time and time again. A really strange move for him but most likely agent business rather than his own.

I loved their 2000 side that won the league with Djalminha, Roy Makkay and Mauro Silva.

Want Zaragoza to get promoted to La Liga always been my favourite Spanish team and their fan base is fantastic.
And Zaragoza lost to Elche in the play-off's yesterday night.

No respect to the promoted teams as they earnt it but Cadiz, Huesca making it to La Liga doesn't help much to the quality of La Liga. Not happy to see likes of Malaga, Zaragoza, Tenerife, Gijon in 2nd league and as you said Deportivo and Santander being relegated from La Liga 2.

I'd love Girona to win against Elche for personal reasons as I've been to the city few times and it's amazing place with very nice people but aren't they also linked with Man City?

Things are getting really bad for Valencia. They are no longer able to play players wages:

If no agreement is reached, they will be unable to play in any competition

I read another article on this the other day. That Valencia team that Rafa brought to Anfield was one of the best European team's I'd watched. With the likes of Mista and Aimar they had class right through the side, I remember us applauding them off the field at the end of the game. This situation is really scary and a horrible reminder of how easy it is for clubs to be sucked up by awful owners. I really hope the fans win this battle and Valencia get themselves back up the table. Another great name being tarnished.

If he can stay fit, (as hes now had consisent knee problems lately) he is going to do well for them if Simeone grows a pair and attacks more.

Wasn't he PSG manager when they bottled the 4-0 lead there?

Best i've seen Barca for a few years though. The likes of Suarez and Rakitic slowed them down a lot and everything going through Messi. That was much more of a team effort with Coutinho, De Jong and Fati starring as well.

Coutinho assist too. And he's playing as the 10 behind Messi.

That is probably, on balance, his best position - maybe you'd want him closer to a Iniesta-style 8, but when he first went there they kept sticking him out on the left wing, just because he liked to cut inside and hit shots with his right foot, and that's clearly not his bestr position.  Just seen he 'megged the ref at one point in the game too https://twitter.com/LaLigaEN/status/1310318031235678208

Be interesting to see if he stays there, or whether Koeman was using it as a shop window to tempt Arsenal or someone else to come in for him - personally, I don't think they have a better player at the club to play that role, or at least as part of that attack - he is clearly better than Dembele, who is probably their other option if they want to keep playing Fati/Grizeman/Messis and someone else attacking

They go through patches. Some games they blow teams away, and then the next week they are painful to watch. Since the restart last season they have been scoring goals for fun.
