When I was younger I didn't really know where Huddersfield even was, but in the infancy of the internet I got chatting to a girl from there who was into the same music as me and seemed pretty cool. After a few months of me nagging her to fire over some pictures, she finally agreed. She'd literally drawn cartoon pictures of herself and her town on postcard-sized pieces of paper. Her local chip shop was there, there was one of a dog in the park she'd seen one day, there was another of her and her mate wearing capes and flying over the town... wtf man. She found this HILARIOUS and looking back, I can get behind that. However, at the time, I can't even tell you how many of my jimmies were rustled that day the postcards turned up. They weren't even coloured in properly.

She now runs an online store for her hand-drawn greeting cards, and they're actually pretty good and she's doing alright for herself. The lesson here, my friends, is that you just can't trust anyone from Huddersfield.

Uh, so anyway...

We've managed to negotiate a very tough run of league matches and come out the other side with zero defeats, with a highly tactical match against City being especially cagey considering the attacking ability of the two teams on show. So now we have a chance to open our legs and show our class to the rest of the league with what look like two fairly straightforward matches against Huddersfield and Cardiff. Of course, straightforward means nothing if you're a Liverpool supporter, we've hit many a brick wall over the past couple of decades when facing unfancied opposition who are happy to dig in and play for the point. It's honestly been really fucking annoying.

But in our favour, the form table makes grim reading for Huddersfield fans, so far this season they've lost against any decent opposition they've faced and have only picked up points (3 of them in total) against garbage teams around their level (Cardiff, Burnley and Everton).

Looking at the formations in these games, Wagner generally sets his team up with a back 5, but against weaker opposition he'll switch to a 4 (Man City excluded).

Assuming it'll be the back 5 against us, our three forwards will find their back line very crowded, with their wingbacks tucking in and this will likely give our fullbacks a lot of the ball. Expect Trent to come back in for this game and Keita's ability to move into pockets of space between the lines will be key to unlocking what'll be a very defensive set up. Our frontline hasn't been firing on all cylinders this season and it looks like Mo might not be able to make it for this match, so this gives Klopp an opportunity to move things around. Does he bring Shaqiri in as a direct replacement as a right inside-forward, or will the power cube get a deeper role to help pick the Huddersfield lock? Should Solanke be considered as an option with his ability in the air and the likelihood that we'll have a lot of the ball in wide areas?

Huddersfield have shipped 17 goals in the league, have scored only 4 and have a few players making their way back from injury, so, on paper, we should have this. Perfect chance to get our misfiring forward line back in the groove. Just can't trust anyone from Huddersfield though, how are you supposed to wank to hand-drawn pictures? Fuck's sake.

For your consideration:

- Assuming chess prodigy Trent A-A comes back in, who partners VVD in defence, Gomez or Lovren?
- If Salah is out for this match, do we bring Shaqiri in as a straight swap or does Klopp move things around and go for a similar set up to the Southampton match earlier this season? He wasn't happy with us defensively in that match, does that mean we're tied to this loose 433 we play for the rest of the season?
- Is PoP going to give me grief for calling it a 433?

Liverpool make three changes for tonight's game at Huddersfield Town.

Adam Lallana, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge start at the John Smith's Stadium, while James Milner, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also passed fit to begin the clash.

Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Salah, Sturridge.

Subs: Mignolet, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Origi, Matip, Alexander-Arnold.

9 a bit slack in midfield here... it gets back to VVD and his ball back to Alisson is a touch short... Alisson is closed down and his clearance ricochets behind..

11 Sturridge is being afforded acres of space here... not sure that this is wise.. and he finds Salah who can’t quite break free..

13. Great 60 yard ball to their wing back .. covered well, but great stuff there from Huddersfield..

Their throw is long and cleared for a corner.

And we break from their corner and have a great period of attack.. eventually a cross from a Robertson is stuck hard and knocks a Huddersfield defender to the ground..

16. Long throw in to the area and in comes out to Shaq and his shit is fired in from the edge of the D . It’s powerful but well blocked.

Just as Tepid was suggesting things were a bit scrappy we put a lovely move together. The Huddersfield players were freaked by Shaquiri's movement he put in a lovely ball to Salah who finished it off.

Lovely play that.. Mo was in the centre forward position..

Dropped of a little and the ball down the side of the centre back gave him soace to run into ... nice finish right footed across the keeper into the corner..

24 A noticeable dip in atomsphere from the home fans now, we continue to move the ball around quickly and Huddersfield appear to be dropping more deep.

28 Wow, a bit of a mishap from Van Dijk there as he sliced a clearence from our crowded box, no harm done. There were half hearted calls for a penalty for us when Robertson fired at a Huddersfield player but I think it would have been harsh.

Adam Lallana is playing like a man who wants to remind us all what a wonderful footballer he is...

He’s opened the bag of tricks today, nutmegs, Cryiff turns... three four in a row....

Such a joy to watch... England doesn’t produce enough footballers like him.

29 Just making an observation but its noticeable how after we score, how we go back into shape very quickly rather than try for another goal straight away. Huddersfield are continuing to attack and find a goal, but so far we are defending quite well.

37 Free kick to Hudderfield after Gomez is said to have his foot too high. I bet others would get away with that though. The free kick is well hit but goes wide.

Something was wrong there..

He was allowed to run into miles of space down their left... who should have converted that? Was Gomez too far over and out of position?

41 Robertson is booked when he mistimes a header and bumps into a Huddersfield player. The free kick comes to nothing though. Then there is consternation from the home fans when they demand a penalty. The ball brushed Milner but he didn't move and it would have been harsh.
