That's really good of you mate, thanks for the thought! Could do with it at the moment! I had the mrs with me during the couple of runs over the weekend and having someone to talk to really helped me focus on something other than the pain! Back on my own today and it was a bit of a slog.

I'm just wondering what you use to measure the distances, have you got a Garmin or something similar.

Good luck with the remaining 104.81 mile . . . . . . it's only 4 marathons

Thanks mate. Yeah I've got a Garmin. Every run syncs with my phone and I take a screenshot of it and upload it to social media for evidence!

Garmins are great, I've been using one for a couple of years for my bike rides.

Had a bit of a meltdown last week. Having been in pain every day for 4 weeks, facing the prospect of another 4 weeks of the same and following a badly timed comment from someone on Strava (meant in jest I’m sure, but it wasn’t the right time for me to take it that way) I lost my head for a bit. Convinced myself that I wasn’t gonna be able to do it and I should just sack running off.

Took a few days off after that and pulled myself together. Decided that the best way for me to do this (albeit completely stupid) is just to smash it. So today started 10 days of hopefully running 3 miles 3 times a day to polish it off.

Won’t bother updating after every run but hopefully I’ll have an update with 9-10 miles knocked off the target each night.

We go again!

I’ll do my best not to! Already starting to feel the effects though after D2 R1

. Only in terms of tired legs though, injury wise I feel ok.

Walking was always something I said I’d do if I wasn’t able to run all of the miles but it’s a very last resort. I’m open to the idea of having to walk up to 10 miles a day for the last 7 days of the year if that’s what it comes to but I can’t see myself walking before then.

I’m just gonna take each day as it comes. If it starts hurting me I’ll stop. For the rest of today, the legs are heavy so I’ll bring the pace right down and see how I go. I’m not in this to damage myself but I’m determined to finish what I started.

Cool, just sounded a tad worrying because you're increasing your daily milage by 300% with no recovery time. I do think motivation can let you do that, but maybe for 3-4 days until your body reacts. Just be cautious. Are you running morning, lunch, evening now?

Did finally manage to put some money in a few weeks ago, it's a great cause you're doing it for. Have some close friends with massive mental health problems and there is not very much help out there for them. Mind do a great job, well in for supporting them.

I know mate. I appreciate the concern and I completely understand it. No part of me is doing this because I think it's sensible or a good idea. It's just that the thought of continuing to wake up in pain every day for another 4 weeks was killing me mentally. I know that doing it this way will be tough but, in my simplistic mind, 10 days of pain vs 4 weeks of pain was an easy choice to make. I'm open to the possibility of it becoming 14 days rather than 10 and taking a break for a day if I need to to. That way I can still get a couple of weeks' complete rest before the start of the new year.

Yeah I'm running to work, running at lunch and then home from work again. Just back from today's lunch run and the legs felt pretty good. I was a bit concerned after this morning's because they felt really heavy but I usually struggle with lack of energy first thing in the morning anyway so hopefully it was just that.

Ah was that you?! I've been keen throughout to individually thank everyone that donated but yours (if we're on about the same one) was anonymous so I didn't know who to thank! Thanks very much mate, I really do appreciate it.

Just the one today. Felt fucking terrible during and since my run this morning so I'm gonna leave it until tomorrow morning now. Smashing it the last couple of days has got it well back in hand again so no point killing myself to keep that going when I don't need to. Can be (a bit more) sensible and still have it done by the end of next week.

Haha yeah! Wasn’t planned either really. Did a 4 miler at lunch time then a little cluster of 3 this evening. Just under 2 miles each way to our interval course with a 5K in between while the mrs did intervals. Feel really good after it all too!

Original plan was October! Then injury #1 struck and it was moved back to early December. Then injury #2 struck and I was worried I mightn't finish at all! But I managed to keep going through injury #2 and I'll have it done this week.

I start training for the London marathon on January 1st so the plan was always to leave a bit of time for recovery at the end of the year if possible. For a while it didn't look like it was going to be possible but fortunately I've rescued it a bit in the last couple of weeks.
