This thread reminded me how much it used to be on. Don't think I've watched an episode in about 5 years whereas it used to be a default 'filler' for an episode or two. Would be rare to catch an episode that I haven't seen before though at some stage.

As for the funniest, used to fluctuate between all the blokes but on reflection it's clearly Ross.

I was the same, I probably went from Joey to Chandler to Ross. Looking back now I'd say it's definitely Ross, some of his comic timing is brilliant.

1) Chandler
2) Phoebe
3) Joey
4) Rachel
5) Monica
6) Ross

Ross was my least favourite character and still is. He was funny, but he was also bloody annoying.

Key to the show were the relationships though. Joey-Chandler being the number one, but the Phoebe - Ross love/hate was always great to watch.

Ross was really annoying in the first few series but from the Prom Video onwards he was comedy Gold,

Chandler was probably my favourite character but Ross has more truly funny parts. It was also funny seeing how unhinged he got as the show went on, when 'Red Ross' came out, it never failed to be brilliant

By the end it was ONLY Ross.

Others were horrible.

Yeah it changed over time I think. As mentioned above, the Chandler and Joey friendship was at one stage the best thing, the dynamics changed once Chandler moved out.

Ross and the leather trousers/talc thing was the funniest bit I think.

Absolutely.
I have often said exactly that. The two lads in the flat were great, and I guess it had to change.
But by the end the characters had gotten so stale. Only Ross and his life had anything of the old sparkle.
ANd he was excellent at playing it.

The one with the University students who were in love with him? 'You don't love me and you never have!'
And everything with Mona was great.

Anyone been to one of the Central Perks that seem to have started popping up (think there's two in Liverpool already) that just have screens everywhere showing non-stop Friends repeats?

Stopped off in the one on Bold St not along ago. Coffee was expensive like but was cool just chilling for half an hour watching Friends :D

Ross was easily the best character, Phoebe easily the worst - by far. Order in between varied for me.

Best episode: The One With The Embryos - just for the apartment quiz.

Ross was the best over the course of the entire 10 series, but around series 3/4 Chandler was so funny, the episode where he get's cuffed in Rachael's boss office. ;D

Phoebe was awful though, never got why they liked her.

Phoebe was awful though, never got why they liked her.

She was ok in the first few seasons and played her 'kooky' role well up to about season 5 and had some very funny moments and lines, especially when she gave birth to her brothers babies.  After that though her character started to change and by the end she was horribly unlikable and sex obsessed, which is completely different to how she started out.

Joey as well became shitter. He started out a bit dim but he became unrealistically dumb by the last series, not being able to tell left from right.

Actually my favourite episode is the one where Phoebe and Chandler are trying to fake each other out over his relationship with Monica:

"The One Where They All Find Out"

Cut to the bathroom.]

Monica: You go back out there and you seduce her till she cracks!

Chandler: Okay, give me a second! (Pause) Did you clean up in here?

Monica: Of course.

[Cut back to the living room. Chandler slowly exits the bathroom and gets pushed from behind by Monica and sees Phoebe closing the apartment door.)

Chandler: Oh, you're-you're going?

Phoebe: Umm, not without you, lover. (She slowly walks over to him and is showcasing her bra.) So, this is my bra.

Chandler: (swallowing hard) It's very, very nice. Well, come here. I'm very were gonna be having all the sex.

Phoebe: You should be. I'm very bendy. (Pause) I'm gonna kiss you now.

Chandler: Not if I kiss you first.

(They move closer to together and Phoebe hesitantly puts her hand on Chandler's hip. He puts his hand on her left hip but then decides to put his hand on her left hip. Phoebe then grabs his butt. Chandler goes for her breast, but stops and puts his hand on her shoulder.)

Phoebe: Ooh.

Chandler: Well, I guess there's nothing left for us to do but-but kiss.

Phoebe: Here it comes. Our first kiss.

(They slowly and hesitantly move their lips together and kiss gently. Phoebe has her eyes wide open in shock and Chandler is squinting. He finally breaks the kiss after only a short while and pushes Phoebe away.)

Chandler: Okay! Okay! Okay! You win! You win!! I can't have sex with ya!

Phoebe: And why not?!

Chandler: Because I'm in love with Monica!!

You kinda forget what a huge social phenomenon this was. It was probably one of the last TV shows where everyone watched the episodes at the same time and talked about it the next day.

Chandler reached the highest peak. He was comfortably the best from the very beginning to roughly the point where he moves in with Monica. Ross and Joey were more consistent. Ross started off slow, but was easily the best at the end. Joey was great throughout aside from some momentary blips where they made him simply too stupid or put him in terrible storylines.

I think Phoebe was probably the best of the girls. Rachel second, her comedic moments often get overlooked for some reason, probably because of how Jennifer Aniston looks. Monica in third, was never really a great fan of hers.

Hard to beat the quiz episode. The one where (see what I did there?) Chandler and Joey stay in their chairs all day comes pretty close though.

On the whole Friends was just fantastic. It still is. I wonder if a younger audience who didn't grow up watching it would find it funny? Or would it just seem laughably outdated?

Saw one the other night where Ross was talking about a Divorced Mans Club and then Phoebe calls it a Sads Man Club. Just brilliant dialogue between them both.

Caught on a bit late (at that age and the group I was hanging around with you would have had to torture us to admit to watching it, though I have a sneaky suspicion it wasn't just me!), but love the show. The last time I watched and followed a series, got bored of television soon after, just watch the odd movie these days.

Big Bang Theory is not funny to me, most of their jokes are just flat and I bet you if it weren't for them dubbing the audience laugh, you wouldn't assume there is a joke being told.

Love that episode and 'The Lightning Round'! When the girls answered all questions easily and without a thought until:

"What is Chandler Bing's job"
Rachael's answer: "He's a transponster!!!"

I did think Friends went downhill massively in series 5, peaking in series 3 where every episode was superb.. You could tell the writers got a bit lazy and instead of making the dialogue clever they made the characters do whacky things to compensate. Joey went from being generally streetwise and cool to a complete moron.
