The foos don't count obviously.

The BBC even felt that viewers at home needed some more energy so had to put on Wiley  and Boy Better Know after Ed Sheeran.

Yeah not even Wiley could polish that turd.

Surely even as a fan of his you'd be miffed by that. Some people said they'd stood there since first thing this morning and he played for what, an hour and 15?

Totally agree. I can be quite lazy when it comes to finding new music. Flicking through the stages you're always likely to stumble on something you've overlooked.

My top 3 were Foos, Barry Gibb and The Flaming Lips.

Watched the Ed Sheeran set, wouldn't be one for listening to him but it was his moment and the crowd ate it up. He is one taleneted fella and has balls of steel.

Will love watching this back on tele. I read all the comments about bland, safe headliners but they were all incredible in the flesh. Best festival I've ever been to.

Really, really enjoyable.

Rodgers and Gibb between them are responsible for every single song ever written.

Watching on TV, few performances I really enjoyed from start to finish - Sleaford Mods, Stormzy, The xx and Kano.

Enjoyed just putting my feet up and listening all weekend really though.

I actually think they finished after him. We switched over from them, as soon as they finished, to Sheeran and he had already gone off. Boy Better Know closed Glastonbury...

I thought he was class, feels strange him doing Oasis songs though. Noel does them when he tours but because it's all acoustic it's a bit different. His voice certainly sounds much better though and I liked what I heard of his few new songs.

Personally I had a great year. Wet Glastonbury often breeds a certain amount of 'in-this-together' crowd solidarity but Dry Glastonbury just makes it so much easier to see more stuff.

Some selected highlights for me in no particular order:
  • Chrissie Hynde calling Murdoch a c*nt (cracking set too)
  • Songhoy Blues for the sheer joy and unbridled energy their African riffs inject into a genre that is often characterised as mean and moody.  They are a wonderful reminder of the need to continue to support the rights of refugees. The crowd were seriously animated and loved every second of it.
  • DAM, a Palestinian hip hop act, rapping in English and Arabic. Funny and sometimes moving acounts about the erosion of civil liberties and artistic freedoms we often take for granted.  'You guys think you had trouble getting in', they joked. :)
  • Bo Ningen, psyco-gothic-rockers from Japan in an extreme set that termimated with the female lead singer departing the stage and attempting the  closest equivalent to hari kiri I can imagine with a bass guitar.  I wonder if their parents imagined all those classical violin lessons were going to lead to this!
  • The Dhol Foundation - the festival is a great place to get properly Bangra'd up.  Magnificent punjabi dhol drummers and dancers. Audience participation essential and inevitable.
  • Sleafords, of course, because I just fucking love swearing.

It will be interesting to see how many of these made the final cut for the telly.

Over the weekend I probably spent a grand total of 30 minutes at the Pyramid, it was a nice afternoon and I had a quick bit of paperwork to catch up with. I think the band was First Aid Kit, very nice in a slightly-too-serious-for-a-Friday-afternoon sort of way.

Anyway, however you watched it, I hope you all enjoyed Glastonbury 2017 as much as I did.  :thumbup

His voice is so much better than it was at the end of Oasis. It's still not what it was, but that's just age and cigarettes. He's still got the stage presence though. The new material I'm not too sure about.

For comparison here's what his voice sounded like in 2008...

Also just to add to what everyone was saying yesterday. Both The Killers and the crowd that watched them were on top form, it's easy to forget how many hits they had.

Had a great weekend, walked over 80 miles over the 5 days!

First two days are always the best, walking round the site and having adventures. Saw two brass bands on Thursday, one doing hip hop covers and the other indie/pop.

From the main stages I thoroughly enjoyed Royal Blood, had seen them before in smaller venues so amazed how well they filled the stage. Dizzee Rascal on west holts the sound was terrible and it took a good while for the crowd to get going. Katy Perry was alright but didn't play enough of her big singles. Foo Fighters did what you'd expect of them, Dave Grohl is always a great frontman (enjoyed the Under Pressure cover immensely).  Barry Gibb was great for the Sunday afternoon but then Chic were just phenomenal. Enjoyed Biffy as well. Left before Ed Sheeran.

Think I saw more smaller stages and spent more time in the south east corner than I have before. Nice seeing random acts like Sophie Ellis Bextor, Busted (they closed the Avalon field it was that busy) and The Mavericks.

The heat on Wednesday was horrendous, was 30c+ so bringing in all our gear wasn't easy. Thankfully it dropped to manageable levels after that, think it rained for more than 10 minutes about 3 times all weekend so that added to just how great it was. Gutted there won't be one now until 2019.
