Look at his little face.  He is just so adorable.  Must be a great asset in the dressing room.

Creates huge problems for himself dropping too deep at times, very similar to Skrtel in that way.

His lack of pace & Moreno's day trips/excursions force the issue somewhat.

Not much else to gripe about which speaks volumes.

Huge experience, massive boost to have in our squad.

He'll probably be given a final 1 year deal.

From Dion Fanning:

Klopp, strangely, was the calmest man in the ground, while later Kolo Toure became so fervent while telling his team-mates to relax that Emre Can had to tell him quietly to return to his position.
  :D

Deserves a banner on the Kop just for that alone.  Gegenpressing the fuck out of the keeper.

Ha ha. It was like, don't think your not getting away without a dose of Gegen.  :D

His presence in the dressing room alone is almost worth a 1 year renewal of his deal. If he can play 5-10 games when needed (injuries/bans/keep lead at end of games) next season too it's a slam dunk.

It used to be that I'd have a mild feeling of dread if Kolo was sent on to replace Martin Skrtel. Funny how the tables have turned...

Well there isn't any news on an extended contract, so factually it's correct. I doubt it will turn out to be the truth though, especially considering some of the things Klopp has been saying recently about Uncle Kolo. I really hope we do keep hold of him though, if only for his happy, happy face. When he scored the other week, he just looked like a kid on Christmas morning unwrapping his dream present. More of that next season please!!

Hope we keep Kolo, he comes across like a big presence and reassuring character in the team/dressing room.

We'd do well to keep him even as coaching staff. The guy is a class act (unlike his brother who is a weapon)

I think both parties would be mad not to really. His experience and his personality are massive assets to our squad and as one of our back-up CBs, he's shown under Klopp he can still play at a high level.

And I don't think he should be worried about regular first team football at his age. He'll prolong his career by play about 20-25 games in a season, learning from some of the very best in coaching and potentially earn himself some silverware at the twilight of his career.

Give this man a bloody contract.

Liked the name of the thread than anything else. He had a great game at Bernabeu last year and he seems to raise the bar for such challenges. Here's hoping for a solid game and may be even another year's extension.

Depends on the Sakho ban, doesn't it?

With Skrtel looking like he's on his way out as well, we'd only have Lovren, Matip and Gomez to start the season. Lucas to fill in, but not exactly a lot of depth until Sakho returns - if he returns.

Have to say it looks like he is ahead of Skrtel in the pecking order and with Sakho out then we've got the choice of Kolo for another year or searching for a new CB - Matip, Lovren, Gomez and Lucas isn't really enough for a title-winning team. Likewise I think we all would like him to continue his association with the club, and a truncated playing schedule and some coaching time would be great news for all of us.

rodgers got stick for some signings and rightly so but this was a good one

bit of back up and experience, he was never signed to be a first teamer every week

Gomez is better at full back, Skrtel is finished, Sakho will be banned for a bit

Toure should be kept and a defender signed with matip, obviously keep lovren

Is Gomez better at full-back? He performed just fine there, but it's not to say that's his best position. I'd say that, given he recovers from his injury, he'd go ahead of Lucas in the pecking order at CB. From then, it's a choice of keep Kolo or look for another CB - depending on how long Sakho's ban is. In those circumstances, I'd say keep Kolo rather than looking for someone new, on the understanding he'd be 4th or 5th choice.

Kolo & Clyne can hold their heads up tonight.

I really hope Moreno gets binned this summer,a liability beyond comprehension.
