I don't understand this signing, just turned 20 and spurs release him.

Is he any good?

Think of it like this -  12 months ago if Flanaghan was out of contract it is possible he would have been released as he was behind Johnson, Kelly & Wisdom already at right full back and we were also interested in Montoya.

I dont mind these low risk signings. He will be on short, low cost contract with no fee. Inglethorpe believes in him and I trust his judgement on young players =.

Very strange. Saw we had signed two Tottenham academy players but had no idea that they were 20 odd. Could be a pleasant surprise.

20 years old, no reason why he can't have a go during the early stages of the cup if he impresses.

On the surface it seems this signing might be for Inglethorpe more than immediately for Brendan and the first team. Time will tell.

Maybe we really wanted to capture Vigouroux so let him bring his mate, a boyhood red, to help him settle in. Everyone's happy.

Or maybe he's a talented young player and I'm thinking too much about it. It is odd to sign a young player at 20 years old, as you expect them to be playing first team football at that point.

I don't think we've had a stand out young goalkeeper since Gulacsi, so hopefully Vigouroux steps up, maybe into the 3rd GK spot.

He's looked decent in his two friendlies. Still don't quite understand why we signed him but he's at least of quality where he could conceivably break into the team.

Inglethorpe must have recruited him, likely knows him from his time at Spurs.
no risk investment, worth having a look - seems neat and tidy so far, unlucky with the Brondby goal.

Been playing for the U21s mostly. I know it's only the U21s, but he's actually done pretty well. Also went on a couple of short loans this year, one of which he came back early from due to injury I believe.

He got moved into midfield and put in a few good performances. His form at the back was not confidence inspiring. Technically pretty sound but he's nowhere close to first team at the minute. Interesting to see what happens over the summer - new contract and season long loan or send him on his way. Would be a bit stupid to keep him with the 21s and allow his contract to expire.

Him and Vigeroux were just filler for the under 21s.

But he ended up being one of the best players in the team, he also had one, possibly two successful loans.

always looked good for the U21's i think we'll be going down the Spurs route with a bunch of these players whereby they'll
be loaned through the divisions and then when they're 22-23 they'll either be good enough to be part of the 1st team squad
or have increased their value by impressing in the Championship.

Its something Inglethorpe did a lot at Spurs.

But he ended up being one of the best players in the team, he also had one, possibly two successful loans.

Mainly because he's 3 years older than most of our other players. Those years are massive at youth level.

He's 22 in September and the best loans we could get for him were in League Two. They're right, he is just filler for the U21s.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

Rafa.

So he should be being 21 playing in a team and league with mostly teenagers. The under 21 league is a league for teenagers. 20+ need first team football.

So you read it the first time and realise 'Kevin Linford Stewart' was signed a year ago.  And then from that point forward despite reading this fact you glance at the thread title on occasions and each time still think we've just signed Kevin Linford Stewart?

What gear are you smoking?

If I just see it as the top thread in this forum from the main page I only see the text 'Liverpool sign Kev...'.  A tiny part of me dies when I open the thread/forum and it's not Kevin Volland/De Bryune.
