My ALL TIME LFC hero.

Couldn't believe so many fans 'forgot' about him in the legends team recently.
These are my own opinions. They are not meant or intended as a criticism of anyone else's opinion just because they are different but if you can't see past that, then tough shit!

That may be the winner by Sir Roger. I think Rowdy scored dead early and Sir Roger's goal wasn't long after.

Incidentally that's what a football strip should look like.  No adverts or logos,  just a big club badge.

what a leg! annoys me how his england contribution is so undervalued! still fuck that its what he did for us tht counts!

Maybe I'm living in the past but I fully agree with you regarding sponsorship on the front of the jerseys. Whether it's Crown Paints or Candy or Carlsberg it's tacky and I've always hated it.

What concerns me is I think that when Liverpool played the Welsh Champions in the recent European CL qualifier I caught a frightening glimpse of how football may be in the future.

One of the teams was actually named after the sponsors (Total Network Solutions) and the other team (the European Champions - I just love saying that) had their sponsors'  logos  larger than the club's actual badge. I fervently hope that if the teams meet again sometime in the future it's not Total Network Solutions versus Carlsberg - God forbid.

Anyway back to Sir Roger. I remember Kaizer Franz (Beckenbauer sp?) being asked before the World Cup Final which players they feared the most and without hesitation he said Roger Hunt.

I think that sometimes Sir Roger was appreciated more in Europe (and Liverpool) than he was by the Ingurland press.

Elevated to a Lordship by the Mods in here, it's a travesty that he was never knighted...sitting on the staunch behind the Kop, I can still see him tracking to the right across the penalty box with the ball at his first then, swivelling, hitting it, right-footed, across the goalie into the opposite corner.   Brilliant memories of a brilliant man.
