This thread was a good reminder to get back into pushups and situps, recently my exercise levels have dropped as I been spending more time on the golf range rather than jogging/pushups etc but will have to get back onto it.

I've also been following this. Still stuck on week 3, I can never manage to complete the final day for some reason.

I did however try a 'failure' test and made it 50 pressups in a row for the first time. I was pretty pleased with that. Just reinforces that the program is actually working.

I've started this and am also stuck on week 3 (after 8 weeks) - not that it's a problem necessarily, I can see I'm making progress.

Anyone - would increased protein intake help me progress? Thanks.  :wave

Going to start the push up challenge this week - managed 8 in the test. I work full time as a programmer and its making me weak sitting on my arse all day. I work P/T as an HGV driver, this weekend I was doing a shunt run taking loads from one warehouse to another. This involved having to clip the curtains down on the trailers, about 40 on each, my arms were knackered after doing each trailer, never used to be like that.

Just started doing that 100 challenge.

Failed day 2 so not the greatest of starts. I'm pretty out of shape though so that's to be expected. Pretty sore also. Mainly around my upper chest. Which I'm guessing is also normal for someone just starting out.

I'm gonna retry day 2 after a day off. Quite interested to see if this program works.

Having started this thread back in 2012, I'm still doing press ups. However, I was getting shoulder and neck pain from time to time, which occasionally required some physio. Now, as a result of physio guidance, I do stretches of various kinds before press ups, and this has evolved to such an extent that I realised I am basically now doing some yoga, with press ups at the end. Still good, though.

I'm starting out using a low window sill, takes some of the pressure off.

After reading this thread I thought I’d give it a go and my test results were embarrassing!

Started working through the 6 week program off my knees to start with and can already feel the improvements

Hoping to complete it and then revisit it doing proper press-ups!

Like it as it takes hardly anytime out of your day and just need to find a space big enough to lie down in!

Good luck all

anyone seen the "Bring Sally up- Press Up challenge"?

Basically listening to the song “Flower” by Moby
When the song says “bring sally up” – push up.
When the song says bring sally down – come down (but not resting)
Do it continually through the end of the song.
If you complete the entire exercise, you’ll do 30 reps of pushups.

Sounds way easier than it is!

Video here of a group doing it:

Week 4, day 1 completed today. I’m doing it every other day (not a two day break at weekend) and doing this cycle with press-ups off my knees.

Today’s total was just over 60 in a five minute spell. Given I was struggling with ten three weeks ago I can really feel the difference

Saw a thing online and started it 3 days ago.

200 push ups a day for 30 days.

Day 1 was straight forward. 2 x 30 push ups followed 7 x 20. Day 2 was a nightmare. My muscles ached like crazy and all I could manage was 10 sets of 20 shit push ups. Day 3 was the same.

But there is a difference in how my muscles feel. I feel like if I keep grinding out crappy push ups then my technique will gradually get better. It is good though for the motivation of not doing just what you can do, but forcing yourself to go beyond that do something that is really hard.

Day 4. 200 atrocious form push ups in sets of 20. Already feel my muscles responding which is nice.

Now finding it’s my stomach muscles more than my arms that give me pain during my10 sets of 20

http://hundredpushups.com/week1.html

someone posted this link a while ago now, you could have a crack at it King Blessed

Starting this today, I did my initial test and it's put me in the top column, I'm fairly fit but not that strong so I might struggle with this into the next few weeks.

Lets do it!

Day two complete. Finding the bottom of my stomach is hurting a little but other than that no real problem.

200 a day was too much mentally
when I felt down just couldnt attack it due to the pain
only managed day 6

As the guy who started this thread, confession time.

I've given up press ups. Now just doing some free weights instead and getting much fewer strains, aches, tears etc. I think the repetition of the same exercise was doing some damage.

If you don't have the correct form you can really damage yourself doing press ups.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

My form was perfect, my physio said so. The problems came from *only* doing press ups, and no other weight bearing exercise.

Yeah it's important to train every part of your body equally.
