Looking forward to Le Tour and to add some interest RCUK emailed us info on their 'fantasy TdF' online game.

Registered myself as now fed up of supporting wrong teams players in footy versions - similar principles and maybe we can get our own mini league going.

Oh and if you're really good (or lucky) top prize overall is Trek Madone 5.2

Link - http://www.rcukfantasytourdefrance.com/default.aspx

Entered this myself.

Worth having a RAWK mini-league for a bit of banter?

Sky Team announced today, good to see G and Ben Swift alongside Wiggo.

Similar line up to one that helped Wiggo to The Dauphine win - far bigger test for the team to support him in the high mountains tho.

Also ditched the blue/black kit for a green one in support of WWF and saving trees in Brazil.

3 teams have been approved in the mini league so far.

Apparently it takes 24hrs for your teams to appearin theleague from approval.

Should be a good bit of fun this.

Pretty much. There's a budget to keep to & a team to get points from and a bonus stage. Oh, and you can do some transfers once the race has started but for the timebeing it's pretty much choose your riders & wait...

Harder than it looks! Cavendish and Contador are shoe-ins, they also cost a bucketload. Bertie might screw me, if he starts gifting stages like he did during the Giro. The younger Schecklet will be the only one hanging with Contador, so get him too, because Bertie might feel generous. Spartacus for the TT, however there's only one TT and no prologue, he won't get much points, skip him. Who gets the team right for TTT will get loads of points for the yellow, 'cause there are few flat stages after it. And no bonus secons at the finish. HTC maybe? They've got power diesel in Martin. Him or Cavendish in yellow?

I'm banking on Basso making the top 5, he's definitely a top 5 climber, if he comes properly prepared. Only 6 mountain stages, so no more climbers/GC guys for me. Gilbert and Sylvain Chavanel for the break away days. Mmm... should probably get more Frenchies in, 'cause they will want some wins, oh well. Vino, Casar and Voeckler would be good for this too, but I need cheaper guys. 10 flat stages, Cavendish won't win them all. Petacchi, Boonen and Hushovd (high points for intermediate sprint!) are safe choices, but I've got no money for them. Ciolek, Rojas, Greipel should get decent points in the flat stages, they are good cheap alternatives - went for Greipel and Rojas. Radioshack for the team, they've got Kloden, Horner, Leipheimer, should all be top 20 overall. Can't see them getting any stage wins though, but HTC is damn expensive and won't finish high overall.

Alright, with my cheap sprinters I've got room a decent guy. Fuck, Vino or Boonen? Mmm... Vino, hopefully the old man goes for the polka dot.

The Red Lampshades are setup. This was fun. :D

You get points for retaining yellow, and there are 5 flat stages after the TTT... however a successful break can piss on my parade here. :D

How do the transfers work? Value for value or some penalty as well? Because if it's just value for value, then I'll clog my team with sprinters for the first 11 days!

No mention of penalties for transfers in the rules, I think I'll do the sprinter clogging and then beef it up with GC guys before stage 12. Just need to look up, who's the sprint leader on each team. :P

Crap, I looked up the profiles of the stages and there might be 6 stages classed as 'flat' in the first week, but only half of them are pure sprinter stages! Others have short finishing climbs in there. You'd want classic riders for those. This calls for a re-think.

Bummer, wanted to finish my team and reading the rules again I notice that if you do the shifting stuff, you won't get any final position bonus. A consistent sprinter could still make it worth the hassle. Two bad days for him and you're screwed, the final position bonus is money in the bank. Finely balanced game this! :D

Just put in a team myself, think I joined the mini leauge as well, although I've got no confirmation. Don't expect to do much with my team,I should have got in first with the lantern Rouge name, but it will make the Tour a bit more enjoyable. my teams pretty Sky centered, I think I must be a whopper when it comes to the Tour ;D , mind you anythings got to be better than wasting time in the transfer thread.

Gilbert is ace, he will definitely have a go at least twice in the opening week. Maybe even get the yellow on the opening day. Congrats to all other national champions as well.

Anyway, I've mailed a question at the support team of the fantasy game and the guy said:
Quote
As per your question; "just to be absolutely sure. I can finish the game with totally different team (lets say none of the initial team) and I'll get points for all of the initial team? (Same goes for bonus team I presume?)."

Yes mate, you can finish game with a completely different team from the initial components you have at the start of the tournament. You will get the final standing points from the riders and bonus team that you have got at the submission time.
So... you definitely should have top GC guys in your team at the start. The bonuses for the top 5 are massive and top 10 are still good.

Agree, great rider - absolute beast on the super steep hills and never catch him just sucking onto wheel in front mile after mile.

Only just realised it was nationals day right round Europe. Wiggo took ours while Cancellara won Swiss and Franck won the Schecks competition.
