Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 2
United: -10
Spurs: -11
Arsenal: -12
Chelsea: -15

Matchday 31 (32 for the reds):

Liverpool: 5 Spurs (H)  Par 3 (Win 5, Draw 3, Lose 2)
City: 2 Fulham (A) Par 3 (Win 2, Draw 0, Lose -1)
United: -10 Watford (H) Par 3 (Win -10, Draw -12, Lose -13)
Spurs: -11 Liverpool (A) Par 1 (Win -9, Draw -11, Lose -12)
Arsenal: -12 Newcastle (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)
Chelsea: -15 Cardiff (A) Par 3 (Win -15, Draw -17, Lose -18)

Liverpool host Spurs in a game that they're likely to need a win from by the end of the season. The game is one of two huge home league games coming up for the reds which are tricky par 3's. City have a reasonably straight forward par 3 away at Fulham. With this being the start of City's highly congested month of fixtures they need to get off to a good start. United have a par 3 that isn't straight forward for a top 4 chasing side in Watford away. They can afford to lose the game and still be comfortably in the top 4 race. Likewise for Spurs at Anfield, whatever the result at Anfield you don't feel it will change the course of Spurs season which now rests on the two CL ties with City. Arsenal and Chelsea have away Par 3's that they need to win to keep pace with the pack.

So Spurs bump down alongside Arsenal. Otherwise no change?

Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 2
United: -10
Spurs: -12
Arsenal: -12
Chelsea: -15

Matchday 32

Liverpool: 5 N/A
City: 2 Cardiff (H) Par 3 (Win 2, Draw 0, Lose -1)
United: -10 Wolves (A) Par 3 (Win -10, Draw -12, Lose -13)
Spurs: -12 Palace (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)
Arsenal: -12 N/A
Chelsea: -15 Brighton (H) Par 3 (Win -15, Draw -17, Lose -18)

Load of mid week par 3's for the top 6. City have their easiest remaining game at home to Cardiff U23's, a gimmie if there ever was one. United have a tough game at Wolves away with a win keeping them 3rd on the APLT and a loss putting them potentially down to 5th. Chelsea and Spurs have must win games to avoid dropping out of the race and falling out of the top 4 respectively.

Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 2
Spurs: -12
Arsenal: -12
United: -13
Chelsea: -15

Matchday 33

Liverpool: 5 Southampton (A) Par 3 (Win 5, Draw 3, Lose 2)
City: 2 N/A United game moved to 24th
Spurs: -12 N/A Brighton game moved to 23rd
Arsenal: -12 Everton (A) Par 1 (Win -10, Draw 12, Lose -13)
United: -13 N/A City game moved to 24th
Chelsea: -15 West Ham (H) Par 3 (Win -15, Draw -17, Lose -18)

Liverpool with another must win game to keep breathing room ahead of City in the APLT. Southampton away is arguably the reds hardest par 3 game left. If the reds can get through unscathed, 3 of the last 5 are at Home with the Away's against Cardiff and Newcastle. Arsenal have a tough game away at Goodison but if they can pull off a win they'll jump from 5th to 3rd on the APLT. Chelsea need a win at home to West Ham to keep pace with the top 4 pack.

I’ve had a quick trawl through previous season’s graphs and a team knocking out par 3s in quick succession like City are going to have to do are very rare (not sure I found one but depends how often par 3 games are bunched together I suppose).

Which obviously means they will do it.

Thanks for the update Prof.

Ah thanks. I'll have a look what's going on.  Moving the order of fixtures plays havoc with the spreadsheet.

I don't understand what you mean- did you actually mean winning the Par 1s in quick succession?

Thank you for plotting this and posting it. Makes for good reading! Man City have their noses in front in actual table, but we are still on top in APLT to reflect difficulty of fixtures completed. It’s nip and tuck and I’ve really enjoyed following this, much appreciated.

What really strikes me is that we have beaten par 5 times and dropped points to par only 3 times.

City have also beaten par 5 times but have dropped points to par 5 times.

They have to beat par two more times than us in the remaining games (on the big assumption that we win all of it remaining games) in order to overtake us.
