I'm 37 so I'd have been proper young. That's why my memory of names of 80s athletes is bad. Good with faces and remember their countries but wouldn't have been paying attention to commentary.

Used to always watch athletics on Friday nights if memory serves, think it was Channel 4?

It was the European circut if memory serves me and the gold medal or something as you accumalate points at each venue week in week out.
