Tom Hardy's acting and his delivery are subliminal. He is one scary bad guy. Brilliant script, brilliant story.

After two magnificent episodes I found episode 5 all fellatio and no trousers - apart from the divine Levi Strauss intercession of Tom Hardy.

Still, maybe we needed a bit of a breather and oodles of cosmetic shagging after all the action of episodes 3 and 4.

 :)

Was thinking the same Timbo. looking forward to watching the priest get on in the head and he wasn't seen in the episode.
Tom Hardy winding up Arthur was brilliant, laughing all the way though that scene. the 2 of the bouncing off each other was superb.
It's going to be an explosive final episode and I imagine Toms going to work it to a few people.
How Winston Churchill reacts is the mystery. I imagine he will be impressed with Toms handling of the situation. assuming he gets to know the truth.

I sat down and re-watched the Tom Hardy scenes. He was great. As you said, winging up Arthur was a joy to behold. Besides the fact he's dead crazy. I half expected him to kill that Russian but Thomas kept him grounded.

For me its the same old same old from Hardy, plays that character in everything he does - Cant see much difference in his performances at all, it suits this show but I think he's sadly not really grown as an actor.  Stuart a life backwards was a magnificent performance but he's very samey

As I said though it fits here

For those like me who cant wait its on VODlocker.pro

What an episode, what a show, what a story, everything is perfect (apart from a few accents - Polly sounds scouse for eg.)

Killian Murphy and paddy considine deserve baftas and golden globes for this,

Tom Hardy was good in this ep but I still maintain in his movies he's very samey (especially when you compare proper actors like Murphy and Considine although I really like Leo and he's the same in most things)

Anyways - Its fkin brill as expected but even better than I anticipated

The best British Drama for years in my opinion

Two episodes in to series three and I'm finding it tough.

The energy and grittiness of the first two series has gone.

Love this show but the one thing that grates a little bit is the use of the 'slow group walk' shot - it must happen at least 2 or 3 times per episode

It looks cool like but they rely on it a bit too much

Yeah, the Mrs and me just laugh at the slow mo bits now, like it's an ad for M&S or something.

Not sure what to think about that season. Can't make up my mind if it was good or am I just wanting it to be good. Think it missed Sam Neil to be honest and the bad vicar didn't get enough screen time. And where was Churchill the whole time? Wasn't Tommy meant to be working for him now? Totally and utterly confused lol. Still better than most on the box like.

I don't feel it's had the drama or excitement of the past 2 series. I'm enjoying it immensely but I'm onto the finale sometime this weekend and it feels like nothing has really happened at all, it's been glacially slow compared to previous series.

As someone who this time last year avoided British TV like the clap (apart from This is England) I've had the pleasure of watching Luther, Happy Valley and now this (halfway through Season 2) all produced by our very own Beeb. Cracking stuff. Arthur Shelby is tragic and hilarious in equal measure. Trying to explain snorting Ket to my old man was quite an experience.

I was watching them prepare for shooting in Rodney st on the Echo online site.
Unbelievable just how much they have to do just to shoot one scene, even relaying the road with what looks like old tarmac etc. easy to think they just plant a few old cars and that's it, far more to it than that. it's no average series.

Thats the production.

Im not doubting its as ever well made. I'm just a bit perplexed at the drop in story.

Im three episodes in and think it could have been condensed into about 30 minutes

Not for me, not sure what you mean by the drop in the story, the plot?
Thought it's typical of writers today. many subtle scenes, the significance of the scenes only become apparent in future episodes. so they may appear insignificant but they all take the series to a different level. they had the Russians, the police, the church and the government all tied into the plot, think they deserve credit for the unusual way they tied that all in throughout the series, that took some effort. especially the ending. ive no doubt a lot of thought has gone into that based on events in the news today.

Thats fine when a series runs for episodes and episodes.

Peaky Blinders series 1 and 2 moved faster than this. With just six episodes I'm amazed at the halfway point how slow it is.

It waits until the last five minutes of the series then takes off like Luis Suarez when he sees Norwich city.
