Lad in work just shown me an article on Sky Sports saying that Real Madrid can beat the La Liga record of 16 consecutive league wins tonight if they win it will be there 17th on the trot.

Could have sworn they lost a league game with a few games to go last year, but obviously not.  Some going that thought if they beat Villareal to get the record.

Zidane has done a really good job.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Records are truly anecdotal at Real Madrid. You could win 25 league games in a row but still get the sack. That club conforms to no kind of normality.

Crazy start in San Sebastian.

Real Sociedad scored after 50 seconds, then K.P. Boateng got sent off and gave away a pen.

Currently Real Sociedad 3-0 Las Palmas with 35 mins gone.

At this doping level, nothing to do.

There was a time when Barcelona covered 113 kms per game, even with Messi running a meagre 8 kms. Those were the days when we could compete physically with the elite.

But something happened with our doping program. ::)

Messi misses games against Celta, Gijon and Monchengladbach. They'll win them without him. Busquets got injured too, so Mascherano might get some games in midfield!

All the big 3 dropped points so no change in position relative to each other but Atletico should be happier with a point at Nou Camp. Godin was great, made some important tackles.

I don't know, I always feel like the games against Real and Barcelona are massive for Atletico because I think they'll drop more points against weaker teams than the other 2.

You do have a point however i feel Atletico have shown they can keep up with the other two. Last season the top 3 teams were separated by only 3 points in the end. It was the closest title race in top flight europe. Real Madrid and Barcelona score a lot more goals but goal difference doesn't count in Spain.

When Messi was injured for 2 months last year Barcelona won 7 and drew 1 of their 9 games. They'll be absolutely fine without him and should give him at least 5 or 6 weeks off.

It helps that this year they have Alcacer to slowly bring through as well. Incredible depth really.

Indeed, no need to rush Messi back now. Turan, Denis Suarez and Alcacer can all rotate on the right of the front 3.

They even won 4-0 at the Bernabeu while Messi was injured last season

Messi being injured these days for Barcelona is not as big blow as it would of been for them in the 2009-13 days, with Neymar and Suarez both at the club now Barca don't suffer all that much when Lio is out on the sidelines.

Arda has been excellent in the appearances he's made for them this season and Alcacer will slowly integrate himself into the team.

The meanest Defense in European Football still looking as mean as ever, only conceded 2 goals in six games have Atletico and one of those games they conceded a goal was at the Camp Nou.

Those two silly draws at the start of the season though could come to bite them back as the season progresses, Atletico should really be the top of the league at the moment.
