I think there is a real possibility that Suarez hits the 40 goal mark in the league this season, provided he stays healthy and doesn't get banned.

Even if he has another game like the Hull one, the chances are he'll score two or three more hat-tricks because it is absolutely incredible the number of times he creates chances for himself.

Not only that, but he's now also creating chances for others. 10 assists proves that. Managers used to always bang on about 20/20 players, well we could have a 40/20 one on our hands! Yesterday he had the captaincy and I think that made him even more of a team player. He was encouraging his teammates non-stop but it didn't negatively affect his game in the slightest.

I wish a player like him could go on forever.

Aside from raising the level of his play, I am most impressed by the improvement of his attitude this season.
He caught me by surprise when he went for the shot after being clipped earlier in the match rather than making a meal of it and demanding the ref for a foul.

Actually, every site, including ESPN, has it down as 4.   The thread title needs updating before some fellow Reds starts spouting this 10 assists nonsense to other fans.

I still can't believe he's 4 ahead of the next closest goal scorer after missing the first six games of the year!   Imagine if he had played those games and "only" scored in half of them (well below his current gls/game average).  He'd be on at least 20 with 3 games left until the half-way point of the season.  If he beats Shearer's record after missing all those games...well, all I'll say is we may be witnessing history here!

A lot of sites will count stuff like winning the penalty at Newcastle, and yesterday's saved shot as an assist. He got awarded 3 'assists' yesterday, 2 against Newcastle, and 1 each against Norwich, West Ham and Everton.

I must have the definition of assist wrong these last 40+ years ... AFAIK if you were the last person to touch the ball before the goalscorer scores (no matter how many touches the goalscorer has before scoring) then you get the assist.
