This means as from tomorrow the days are longer than the nights.

Then there's the Equinox circle dancing, celebrating the renewed life of the Earth that comes with the Spring.

Bugger. Is it that time already?

Better get me Spring God costume out of the attic and start symbolically planting seeds and playing out courtship rituals.

Still, it's a living I suppose.

As you get older mature, the winter months arent so bad. I'm a vain appreciative sun worshiper, so I understand what you mean. But winter months can have an advantage of inducing laziness cosiness. Go with the mood and just fuck read more in the winter.

Not a  minute too soon. Was one of the longest, worst winters I can remember. Not even especially cold, just neverending. Was fully sick of winter and darkness by mid-December, since then it was just a grueling slog.

Time for my annual rant. It's bad enough having the completely pointless moving the clocks farrago, but it's especially egregious this time of the year.
BST ends in the last weekend of October, 8 weeks before the winter solstice on 21st December.
This year, BST starts on the 31st of March. That's 14 weeks after the solstice. Why?? It'd be barely tolerable if it was the last weekend of February, but it's especially terrible in March when it's bright before 6am.

Weirdos.

We should just add a 13th month between August and September and make all the months 4 weeks. We could call it Gregory.  Or we could do a phone in poll with the general public to name it - would probably end up being called Monthy-McMonth-Face. Or just "Monty" for short.

In any case, the nights start getting longer again in 12 weeks, so make it count!

I drove over to Yorkshire today and it still surprises me how much further ahead the seasons are when you head east.

Beautiful hedgerows of fresh green foliage on the hawthorn, huge swathes of white from the blackthorn blossom and the distinct yellow of the willows.  Then the cherry blossom and magnolias flowering in the gardens, now that's spring!!

It still looks like mid winter here.  The hawthorn leaves are barely buds, same as the blackthorn so the hedgerows are still bare twigs.
