its simple fact that he played for man  united
that should disqualify anyone from being lfc ambassador

I wonder if the Mancs tore down statues/pictures of Matt Busby when they realised he played for us?

It's fine. No need to fret too much. He was a brilliant player for us and went to Madrid because, frankly, he thought we could not match his ambitions.

The subsequent season's trophy allocation was satisfaction enough for me to prove him wrong and I don't even blame him for going on a medal robbing spree down Manc way, really.

All players are self-serving really. Even those that stay with one club. It's just that their ambition is to stay at one club, so they satisfy their own ambition that way. It's not like Carra really wanted to leave but felt he owed it to us to stay. It's only a sacrifice when you do something you don't want to do on behalf of others.

Nice of the club to give the outrage brigade something to fewm about after a fantastic week

To be honest, if this makes someone angry, they need to rethink what's important.

If this seals us a deal with some Qatari prince who accidentally thought he was signing a sponsorship deal with the Mancs, I'm all in.

It's a bit of a nothing role anyway. He did more good for us than bad. I just wish he'd give up his commentary commitments more than anything.

The club is out of touch with the fans.

Maybe we'll have mckenzie & bettison doing media & match day operations next?

Some might not be arsed, there doesnt seem to be anyone at the club who see's & feels what the fans do.

I can imagine an overseas trip of importance with someone behind MO giving it  :wanker whilst he is on air..

Over-reaction..fuck off.

Probably the worst choice after Diouf. The club overlooked Rush, Kenny, Carra, Gerrard, Hyypia, God, Souness and many more to opt for this Judas. Someone needs to get sacked for this.

The worst after Diouff? Ridiculous.

Hes a c*nt and I'm sad he will be drawing a salary from us. Cant we put the money that this odious twat will be earning to better use.  We could give the lower paid, behind the scenes, staff a payrise or bonus or something.

Well done the board.  Id be interested to know who wanted this.

Im angry myself mate but Im sure Kenny and Rushie are employed by the club and possibley Robbie too. Carra is on TV, Sami will be looking at a more hands on role somewhere, Gerrard still plays. As for the other one on the list, dont think he would be too popular either mate.

If you want to see the reaction look here:

https://twitter.com/LFC/status/723149415867781122

Liverpool fans angry, opposition fans mocking us, another masterstroke from the LFC hierarchy. Guess they got bored that there hadn't been LFC drama in the past few months since the ticket debate.
I'm not on Twitter so I don't know how it works, but can you literally just write/tweet anything on someone else's twitter account?

Haha...don't mind Owen myself, Rafa went to Chelsea and people still love him.

He's the type of clean living, well respected ex player modern day clubs look to for this type of role. Don't see the point in getting so worked up about this appointment.

Bit daft/dull in some people's eyes or not Owen is a safe bet, that's what probably counts.

Either way the whole thing doesn't bother me.

He's a bit of an irrelevance for many football fans. It's his own fault, but his image as a player gets overlooked by his snide, boring personality and his actions later on in his career. He's one of the most talented forwards we've ever had, I truly believe that. His numbers back that up. As a kid he was my hero, he was in the team just before Stevie and I had every kit with his number on. I was gutted when he left and I was desperate for him to come back but he went to Newcastle.

But I was just a kid then and as I've gotten older I've realized that I'm glad he didn't. I've realized that was always focused on himself and England and he didn't really care too much about Liverpool. The way he left, the way he acted, the things he said and then joining that lot down the road ended any affinity I had for him. I don't hate him but I simply don't care too much about him. This is a rather odd appointment I have to say.

Next you'll be telling us - the club wanted to have a meeting about the main stand build at 2pm on the 15 April and only near the last minute, where they politely reminded of the significance of the date and asked to cancel the meeting........... or something like that.

Using the word 'we' when talking about Utd.

And for that reason, I'm out.
13mins - Bournemouth have gone home. Utd kicked off anyway. Still 0-0 as Smalling passes it back to De Gea.

What's he going to do do as an ambassador? - bore them to death with his stories and monotonous tone? lie to them like he did to us? or give advice to those who need gagging orders? knocking up teen babysitters? not pay gambling debts (until he realises it's better for his health that he does)? use the word 'us' and 'we' when talking about Man Utd? how to be a self-important prick?

We got 50 m for Torres. We got 8 for Owen.  Owen shafted us big time. Actually  we got less because we had to pay Micheal Nunez's wages for a year as well. ( ok that last bit is a cheap shot as Nunez does have a champions league medal).
