How the fuck did he even get this ambassador position? Whoever hired him needs to be fuck off asap, doesn't have a clue. Rather have Salif Diao represting us than him.

He's the ambassador for corporate wankers. He's the perfect choice with his helicopter experience and personality.

;D see - Owen is brilliantly helpful when it comes to trying to think of a word that's been on the tip of your tongue for ages - read through his brochure and you are bound to find a million buzz words, of course not one of them actually represents him. I mean this brochure he created was one of the worst things i've ever witnessed in football. It was so hilariously embarrassing for the poor bloke.

I think he's incredibly insecure, and desperate to be liked, unfortunately - he's just nothing but a few stats these days.

As for the petition? Like him - Who cares.....

Could he have meant 'we' in and English sense? Either way who fucking cares.

With everything going on at the moment this is the most small-time ridiculous waste of time I've heard of. Embarrassing. Drop this lads, do we need another fucking stick to be beaten with?

'Miserable Scousers start petition.'

We don't sing for 90 mins about them, they do about us, lets leave this brand of behaviour to them, shall we? Fucks sake we've got a boss team, boss manager, exciting season lined up, lots to think about with the transfer market and all positive going forward.

We're better than this.

Also just to be clear-  we want to send a petition, a mighty petition, to Tony Barratt - on his first days in a new dream job - so he can bring up the pressing issue of having a former top scorer and trophy winner removed from the clubs roster of ambassadors? Seriously?

Fuck me there are a million things to give a fuck about in this world but if this is one of yours you aren't trying hard enough.

All for it, but here's a question. What the fuck has the little shit done in his role as an LFC ambassador? Unlike Luis Garcia, Didi Hamman and Robbie Fowler, the little prick never travels to places like Asia or Australia for talks or promotion etc. I may have been hiding under a rock for the past twelve months and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've actually never seen him do anything in this role.

I said further up that he's ambassador for high end corporate sales. He has fuck all to do with you and me and is perfect in that role.

He's a boring prick. Imagine him being the audio book voice for 50 shades of grey!

Remember when he left Liverpool in the lurch, signed for madrid for 8mill to win things and Liverpool won the european cup the following season with Nunez on the wing?

Unlucky Michael you little wool. Pack your bags and i hope one of your horses toe bongs you right in the fanny.

Did i mention i signed the petition?

His career pretty much ended at 24. I adored him when I was a kid. Now it's just like meh.

In all fairness though, he and Steven Gerrard are the only players in this century to win us the FA Cup. For the Gerrard final in 2006 there's always the Owen final in 2001. I think people should appreciate that and also the sheer happiness in his eyes when that final whistle went.

I'm glad he didn't come back on a free as a shadow of his former self though in 2009. I can't believe Whiskeynose actually believed he pulled off a coup by signing him. It was never going to work. I hardly recall him playing for Newcastle before because of all his injuries.

Something I do respect him for is coming back while a United player to play for Liverpool in Carra's testimonial. In his situation most people would've turned that down immediately.

I'm torn on Owen, but life's too short to have a grudge. He made mistakes but still contributed a lot to Liverpool and to the club becoming a proper global brand around 2000. We should acknowledge that!

Not a fan of him and he certainly shouldn't be an ambassador. But its weird to see such outright hatred of him when everyone was wanking themselves silly over Torres a few weeks ago.

At least Owen helped win us 4 trophies - one single-handedly -
and didn't directly transfer to a rival.

he is a vacuous corporate whore. who was controlled by his agents and management. he is a liverpool great but i always felt he was all about himself and enjoyed playing for england more than the reds. nothing wrong with that, but i dont think that endeared him to the kop. then he fucks us off for madrid, turns us down to go to newcastle and then joins the other lot. now he is just another bad pundit. he is a whopper but there is a lot of greats and legends who have played for us who have acted like belllends. trust the art not the artist a famous old rocker from new jersey would often say.

regarding the petition this is bluenose territory for me. its just smalltime. maybe the club will address this behind the scenes, maybe not. i dont think its right connecting tony barrett's name to this and fucking pestering him with this petition shite. plus tony will have a lot more important issues to deal with when he starts the position not shite like this.

I've not read every post, but I don't think anyone is saying that Owen wasn't a good player or he didn't produce the goods for us. The comments seem to centre on Owen the man rather than the player. Also on whether or not he is the kind of guy we want as an ambassador for our great club.

As a player I loved watching him. As a man, from what I see and hear, I don't care for him much. As an ambassador for LFC; well I don't think he ever really got the club, he went on to play for Salford and often fails to endear himself to our fanbase.

I somewhat agree. This stuff is all subjective but for me the one thing I look for the most is on field contribution to us both in terms of effort and prime-aged talent, not personality or future rival teams they play for.

And in this case all three of Suarez, Owen and Torres benefit hugely in comparison to Sterling. The one I despise the most. He could have given us so much more while still bringing in a strong transfer fee, but instead left super early in his career. Having spent most of his time here as either a completely raw talent in the beginning and as a sulky, useless c*nt at the end. That useful middle only lasted for just over half a season at most.

All three look okay in my book compared to him.  Fuck Sterling.

I go into a ground that most working class kids are never going to go into regularly. Consequently the atmosphere is getting worse every season. People can't get tickets there's a massive waiting list. I reckon most of us who go the game are in favour of safe standing despite the understandable opposition of some of the Hillsborough families. Are we getting an extension to the Anny Rd Then there's less important stuff like the Wembley like volume of the speakers in the new stand the lack of urinals at halftime. Yet people think that Tony Barratts first job should be this. It's fucking pathetic and smalltime
