Apparently jimmy averages 19 in his last 40 tests. Not too shabby.

Jimmy has 210 test wickets away from home.

There are only 13 other players (not including himself) that have taken more in total for England. He'll likely overtake Flintoff (219) and maybe Harmison (222) by the end of this tour.

Just highlights, if it were needed, his fitness and longevity.

Still far from convinced with Jennings. His footwork is far too static, especially against pace.  The Aussie quicks are going to cause him all sorts of trouble.

Out for 17.

You tried reverse mockers, only to then put the mockers back on.  :D

England with as long a batting line up (on paper) you could hope for, yet with two openers who simply look unconvincing.

Thing is Jennings looks boss for Lancashire, he really does look to be a proper player at that level technically, just doesn't seem to be able to transfer it into Test Match form. Always looks nervous and tense to me when he's playing for England.

He and Burns were the highest averaging openers in the County Championship last season apparently.

Also a good chance of them failing, do we even have a top order considering that we invariably end up 70-4 in a lot of test matches.

So Anderson now has 565 test wickets, 600 could be do-able by the end of the year with any luck.

Always wanted to do this, quote myself, with hindsight I was being quite optimistic! :no

Our top order is awful, but it's worth remembering that we've won 8 out of our last 9 Tests.

Unfortunately nine times out of ten the team batting first holds the aces. England batted first in every test in Sri Lanka. Seven down.

Can't argue with that  ;D

Unfortunately, with the lack of preparation for Tests these days, the first Test in a series (after a long break) is usually tough - which is why I'd prefer the ODI stuff to come first.

We've a one day batting lineup essentially. Sometimes they'll score, sometimes they'll do shit like this. May as well get used to it because we aren't finding a Dravid or Chanderpaul anytime soon.

Going well this isn’t it! Seem to do it once every Windies tour, then spend the rest of the series on top but not able to get the win.

We're playing terribly, I know.

It's not an excuse though, it's a point. In my opinion, that's how tours should go and that has been my opinion for a long time, however England has started a series. It is the most conducive way to have good Test Series across the board, which is the version of the game I care about the most by far.

Imagine following on having kept oppo to 289!

The average first innings score here is 290. West Indies didn't bat badly and if it wasn't for a classic Jimmy Anderson spell they might've been looking at 350 plus.

This is just pathetic really. These West Indian bowlers are perfectly capable at Test level, but as Gerry said if you have a ODI batting line up things like this will regularly happen.

Not that he’d have improved the batting but should Broad have played here? Height and uneven bounce etc?
