i was looking for another thread and found this

i thought it was a decent and yet sad read as he didnt have a clue what to do when he retired.

but an interesting read. i managed to get it for 3 quid in a cheap book shop and enjoyed on it on a recent holiday

Just read the extract and, as usual, you are shocked by the people who gave serious mental health problems. Looking at him on LFCTV joking around you wouldn't think he ever had a care in the world.

Interesting to see what all sports bodies have in place for retiring athletes as the missing adrenaline rush and no training regime must have a serious impact both be tally and physically.

The timing of you posting this is impeccable....thank you. Certainly helped me and more importantly has given my missus a better understanding of this silent killer that that has affected her husband for the last few years. Hats off the LFC, Jason and Chris and also the families involved.

Fair play to him for facing his demons and coming out of it a better person. Seems like a fan in the studio if you know what I mean.

Was on the Quickly Kevin podcast this week, good interview, some funny stories about his youth, coming up from amateur football.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

Anyone watch his under the cosh interview? Some interesting tidbits. Souness was a heartless bastard to him at Blackburn. But in fairness he has apologized and made up with him.  Also was sad hearing about Roy Evans breaking down.

Same.
I've known Jason since he was a kid, when he was glass collecting at the Sportsman's pub in Tranmere.
Proper nice lad from a proper nice family.

I like Mcateer. One of the few ex-players who would speak out against Hicks and Gillett (before Rafa left and they started jumping on the bandwagon). Speaks well on LFCTV as well.

Don't know why he hangs around with Keys and Gray in Qatar all the time though.

The dough with all expenses paid flights and hotels included. Its like the golden ticket to all the ex-pro's plus the Qatar werewolf of London can hook you up with one of his daughters friends if your an absolute wrongun.

That's good to hear. He never forgot where he came from, the move to Tranmere at the end for a big pay cut spoke volumes, loved the game and his local club.

Only thing missing was any sort of talk about playing under Evans and why we didn't have the success we should have, although maybe that's been covered enough elsewhere.
