Netflix's Narcos - The Pablo Escobar Story
« on: June 14, 2014, 06:32:05 am »
Coming out next year, Wagner Moura stars as Pablo. Pedro Pascal will also star, as a DEA Agent who only has eyes for Pablo.

I'm interested because Netflix makes good television, and because of Entourage.
Anyone else being strangely drawn to Dion Dublin's nipples?

The book is exceptional...

If very scary... The TV series has much to live up to!

Just finished the binge of season 1

Pretty good

Shot well, mostly good characters and writing, one thing I really liked was the titles - a bit random I know but each episode was a bit different - I love that attention to detail

Wish they had more of Pedro Pascal and Wagner Moura and a lot less of Boyd Holbrook who is less than 1 dimensional.  Everything about this show is good apart from him who is not good (this becomes clearer as the show goes on)

Finito.

Amazing stuff,Wagner Moura is fantastic in it and i like the fact it is English/Spanish spoken, would have been a bit less authentic if the Cartel/Colombian scenes were spoken in a cheesy Latin America English speaking accent.

I hope a season 2 gets commissioned and the Cali cartel are in it more.

Both is spot on. Holbrook would fit better in that Starsky&Hutch-remake from a couple of years ago. And it's great that a lot of it is in Spanish even though I don't understand most of it. The stuff I remember from school is only enough for a sentence here or there. Still, watching this makes me want to learn Spanish again and actually use it... ;)

It's astounding how much money Escobar made in his career at over 30 billion dollars, gonna have to watch some documentaries on him and read some books.

420 million dollars a week selling coke and not knowing how to spend it and ends up burying it in fields because their is so much of the stuff. :o

Astounding fact i did read yesterday,10% of his earnings every year he stashed away was eaten by rats. ;D

Anyway Netflix can put this show alongside OITNB & House of Cards among their best work,i hope it gets recognition with some awards.

After having finished watching all episodes I take back what I said about Holbrook. I actually feel sad for him. He was probably happy that he'd gotten a part in this only to realise that even in a series featuring Pablo fucking Escobar and a shitload of thugs his character is still the biggest wanker of them all. Poor guy...

Its good, but the way its structured, the timeline, its doing my head in. They have presented it like everything happens within in short period, the various landmark events they have shown so far, happened years apart, but the way its structured its months apart, like its all happening in the same year.

If you have further interest in the topic, should watch the Cocaine Cowboys documentary's. They tell the story of the smugglers and the wars that happened in Miami.
