Best thing on tv, and I include Happy Valley in that. Didn't see that ending coming at all.

You are right about the ending, I am right flabbergasted. I want next week already I have so many questions and theories.

I see a couple of you were writing whilst Stewart Lee was still on. For me that is the best double header of the week, on a par with Saturday night BBC4.

Great timing by BBC. After the ending of the wonderful Happy Valley, Line Of Duty begins with an excellent episode.

That cop straight in the list of people with punchable faces though.

Crazy good doesn't begin to describe it, what a return. The troubled copper played by Daniel Mays, what a performance.

The 8.2 IMDB rating for this show is a joke, I'm guessing that's down to the first season but still.

Don't pay attention to IMDB (series) rating mate. Most of the time it's grossly overrated and when it's not, you get rating like this one.

8.2 is not bad itself but other shit TV shows have similar rating.

Yeah 8.2 is a very run-of-the-mill score for a TV show, not too bothered just felt it deserved more popularity and exposure. Last season was spectacular television, I thought it would sit well with lovers of The Wire.

ah-ha. I was watching the exact same episode at this exact time!!!

SO SO Much better than Season 1 already.  The director seems to have ramped up the tension and made it more believable.

I enjoyed season 1 don't get me wrong, but this 2nd season already feels so much better :)

Jeez your not wrong, Errol Flynn has got nothing on DS Arnott!!

Half way through season 2.  Really hotting up now.

Glad Dot Cottan has reappeared in the show. Great character.  He's the archetypal sleazy, chauvinistic, dodgy detective that's the staple of any British Police drama :)

I like Det. Ch. Supt. Les Hargreaves too. No nonsense copper is Les!!!  The actor who plays him was in Emmerdale for years as Archie Brooks.  Weird seeing him now as a middle aged fat bloke.

Yep.

The latest episode with the way she treies to casually talk to the 3 armed coppers and ends up interogating them and slipping in the line about AC-12 everytime!!!!

Nah your ok mate. :)

Was pretty obvious he would be featuring in Season 3 after the great job he did in season 2!

Slippery bastard he is!!

The interrogation of DCC Mike Dryden in the season 2 finale was just magic TV. Intense questioning from AC-12.

brilliant program.

Couple of Quick questions around the season 2 finale that i cant quite get my head around

Spoiler
I know DI Denton was part of the ambush, but was she under the illusion that they were just going to kill Tommy and no-one else?  Was any reason given as to why they executed everyone and was it Dot who gave the order?

It has been left purposely open, my advice would be watch series three now, this show is about the long game. We still don't have all the answers yet. I know there is another series to come, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait to get all the information we need before it all comes together. He is a brave writer the way he makes the audience wait for everything.  But that's the great thing about this show.

I just don't get the casting of her, totally lacking in charisma, unless that is the point.

Have to say though, after a thrilling first episode, they managed to ratchet it up a notch this week.

Brilliant seeing all these new people giving this show a chance it is so good, you won't be disappointed. Anyone starting off though really needs to see both the first two series to get the full picture. Also if anyone is interested there is a brilliant blog on the series by Sarah Hughes in the Guardian's TV section, it is great fun especially when the show is running.

Enjoyed last episode as well. Y'all remember season 2 well? Fuck, not so much me other than the main plot and I'm afraid I'm missing/forgetting something.

I didn't expect Waldron to be dead despite the seemingly fatal shot. I thought somehow he would survive cause he seemed really pivotal for the whole new series. Nice trick there.
