The emotion in it is brilliantly done, and certainly hits me. I still gets a strange feeling when the trotter's are applauded when they come into the nags head after becoming millionaires. Brings a tear tot he eye.

By god they should have finished it there, just brilliant.

Deffo should have finished it there, was brill as you say. Episodes where Del Boy got battered on Rodney's behalf were just as good as anything in the laugh out loud moments and rarely do programs do it and do it well.

The one where they are testing a Nuclear bunker. Rodney asks Delboy what will they do for food.

That was a low point

One of the best programs ever made. I love it and as everyone has said, it just doesn't get old and you still laugh even when you know what's coming. It's funny, clever, witty, and touching. David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are just perfect (didn't David Jason originally go for the role of Rodney? Sure I read that somewhere), but the whole supporting cast is excellent too. Always had a soft spot for Grandad and Uncle Albert.

Impossible to pick a single favourite episode or moment, there are so many. When Albert is doing his 'shocked' bit that he rehearsed with Del when Rodney tells them he's going on a date with another girl when he and Cassandra broke up, and keeps doing it in the wrong place, gets me every time. You can see David Jason laughing too. I also love the Groovy Gang episode, Batman and Robin, Del in the bar, blow up dolls, Rodney in his Gladiator outfit, 'Gary', I could go on. Absolutely brilliant program.
I wish my balls were as big as Dirk's.

Agree. Walking into the sunset should have been it. Ridiculous they even thought about adding to that perfect ending.

Grandad by a country mile.
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I thought that but the one where they brought the immigrant back from France was pretty good. GARY!

And Albert by a long way.

It was a shame for the Grandad that the greater storylines came after he died.

Just watching the episode where Rodney goes with that 40 year old woman whose husband is in jail.

Rodney: "Hes away"
Grandad: "Away where?"
Rodney: "Parkhurst"
Del Boy "You're going with the wife of a convict?"
Rodney: "You don't half jump to conclusions Del, just 'cos he's in Parkhurst doesn't mean hes a convict, he could be a warder or the guv'nor."
Del Boy: "And is he a warder or a guvernor?"
Rodney: "Well no he's a convict."

At Uni and dont have a tele, this thread just made me go on youtube and watch the jolly boys outing episode...absolutely brilliant and as much as I love a lot of other British comedies there's just no touching only fools!

Personally much preferred the episodes when Uncle Albert was in but that's nothing against Granddad, think the storylines just kept getting better over time. Watch it all the time at home with the family and got a twinge of homesickness at the titles...wonder if it'll still be as funny if and when i watch it with kids of my own? Its certainly aged well enough so far.

The Unlucky Winner Is (The 'Groovy Gang')
Dreadful, simply dreadful.

I feel sorry for the girl that played Cassandra. What a truly shockin' actor, and the personification of the 'death knell' for this great show.

...'Fools', nearly went the way of the Simpsons. Amazing first series' and then the wheels fell off.
With the arrival of Cassandra, and the truly shocking of 'Dae-mian' the central characters of Del and Rod just became annoying, and irritating.
Same old jokes wheeled out.

It was sloppy writing all the way from there.
Along with Scrappy Doo, Cassandra has to be the worst TV character ever. At least the one that came along and ruined a priceless piece of Telly.

Any sharp eyed viewers notice on the photo that Sid produced from the Jolly Boys outing they had in 64, the picture had all the gang on (great how they did that!) and at various points everyone got a mention (Del, Trigger, Denzil Sid etc)

But also on the old b/w snap shot was the bent copper and ex school mate of them all a youthful Slater.

On the picture, but never got a mention......clever that!

Rodney  "As Andy Warhol said, everyone will be famous for 15 min"
Denzil    "How can everyone be famous for 15min, when there isn't enough time in the world?"
Rodney  "Well he was surmising, some people will have 15 min of fame & disappear like, Renie & Renato & Simon Dee"
Trigger   "& Gandhi"
Rodney  "So you see. What?"
Trigger  "He made one great film, & you didn't see him again"

Mike      "Go & ask Rodney, what Del & Raquel have called baby"
Trigger  "Why"
Mike      "Cause i'm not allowed to enter my own competition, however if you go & ask, we'll go halves on the winnings"
Trigger  "OK"
Trigger goes over to Rodney  "Any idea of the name for the baby?"
Rodney    "If it's a girl, there going to call it Sigourney after an actress. If it's a boy, there going to call it Rodney"
Trigger    "Who after?"
Rodney   "Me Trig"
Trigger    "Oh"
Trigger walks back to the bar
Mike       "Well did you find out who there going to call the baby"
Trigger   "If its a girl, there going to call it Sigourney after an actress, if it's a boy, there going to call it Rodney, after Dave"

When Rodney gets married and Del is left in the Reception Room by himself. Gets me everytime. Again, it hits the happy/sad balance perfectly.

Nothing more you can say than just legendary. By far my favourite British sitcom, I laugh the entire way through the majority of the episodes. So well written, especially the dialog. I can't really name a favourite episode.

I don't mind that they brought it back after they became millionnaires. The 'Gary' episode is a classic for me. The other two weren't really up to the standard of the old ones but I think the new ending illustrated that it was more about family than it was about them becoming millionnaires. I love the bit at the end of the final episode where Rodney has his baby named after their mum and then asks Del about his dad and Delboy tell him he was a liar, a cheat, a thief etc. and Rodney is nothing like he was. Touching moment.

Without doubt my favourite tv programme ever, and I'm only 27 so didn't see it first time round. Myself and grobbelrevell used to swap videos and built up the collection between us so we could swap what we didn't have. Most emotional episode off the top of my head is grandads funeral, even I come close to shedding a tear, but other than that there are plenty of storylines and moments that can make you emotional. Wondefully written and cast, and as is still on tv today shows how it's past the test of time. I don't know that I have a particular favourite episode but Love to read other peoples views on it. Great stuff guys
